| Product Name: | Nesco FD-75A Snackmaster Pro Food Dehydrator, White - MADE IN USA |
| Product Description: | Dry fruit, vegetables, and jerky in hours instead of days. The unit's patented Converga-Flow drying system forces air down the exterior pressurized chamber, then horizontally across each individual tray, converging in the center, for fast, even, and nutritious drying. Flavors don't mix, and there's no need to rotate the trays. It's top-mounted fan eliminates the worry of liquids dripping into the heater chamber, and an opaque Vita-Save exterior helps block harmful lights in order to retain more of the food's nutrients and vitamins during the drying process. The unit's adjustable thermostat ranged from 95 degrees to 160 degrees F, providing the flexibility needed to ensure excellent results. It's a 600 watts unit. Five trays come included, but the unit can be expanded to 12 trays (additional trays sold separately) for drying larger quantities at one time. Accessories include two fruit roll sheets, perfect for drying semi-liquids like soups, sauces, and fruit rolls- two Clean-A-Screen flexible screens, which allow for easy drying of small items such as herbs, spices and potpourri- and three original jerky spice packets for making jerky. A 52-page recipe and instruction book also comes included. With a speckled gray design, the food dehydrator measures approximately 13-inch by 13-inch by 10-inch. FD-75A is Frustration free packaging and FD-75PR is retail packaging. |

I haven't tried jerky in it yet, but I've read many reviews saying the temperature doesn't get up to what it says it does, and may cause some concern for jerky especially poultry. I tested this with my temperature gun and it appears as though it does run cooler than what's specified on the unit. Also the unit doesn't hold quite as much as you think it does. If I got into dehydrating more I would strongly consider getting an Excalibur unit instead. It's 3x the price as this when it goes on sale, but it has a timer, accurate temperatures (based off reviews), and more space since it's box shaped instead of a cylinder.
I'm still tinkering with it, but at this point I don't know if the value is there for me. It's a lot of work for not much in return, but for my batches of peppers it was amazing.

I've been eyeing this for awhile, and finally grabbed one.
I tried drying some fruit over night and put it to the rerecorded temperature
In the morning the fruit was just sticky and stuck to the trays
I let it dry for a few more hours and it did not even dry them anymore than they were
Thought it would be a little stronger
