I just noticed this pop up on sale in my VUDU wishlist today. I've never see the price below $4.99. This isn't UV compatible therefore will not port to other services. It's also not available for Disc to Digital.

I guess it's a pretty good deal, but...

Lawnmower Man: A movie so bad and so far afield of the original story that Stephen King sued to have his name removed.

I didn't think the movie was as bad as others say... but I still can't imagine paying money to own it.

Can anyone speak to the differences between the original and the director's cut?

I loved the movie when it came out. Now after so long, I'm sure the effects would be so bad, I'd hate it. Big Grin

Special effects aren't the problem here...the direction is fairly awful. Movie can still be entertaining and $4 is a great deal!

Weird, I was only a kid at the time this came out but I thought it was pretty good.

I definitely think it could use a reboot/remake, the premise was pretty interesting.

From IMDB:

This seems like it's ripe for a remake.

I had this on laserdisc in the 90's, picked it up somewhere on the cheap. It's not a terrible movie, but it's not great either. The VR CGI was pretty bad ass in 1992, but now... oh man. Roll a fat one and have a good time laughing at how silly it all is.

The movie really had nothing to do with Stephen King's story. But not the first movie I've seen that used a book title and threw away 99% of the source material.

It's hard to recommend this as a buy, even for $4

Remake? Please, no. But there was a sequel. And it was so bad that Fahey didn't show up for it, but Max Headroom did. (Damn I had no idea how much Matt Frewer worked until I saw his IMDB page. That dude is a workaholic)

Haha this movie was such shit. But the CGI stuff was pretty fun at the time. I remember it kinda scaring me as a kid. It's like Flowers for Algernon more than Stephen King.
