I opened my Google play app as it had a 1 on it. Clicked the red dot, and had a message about a $2 credit towards an app or game over $2.

Might be useful for some, never had a credit like this before so this likely won't get you an app for free.

Nothing new under notifications or rewards for me. Perhaps it's either targeted or still rolling out.

Also, when you try to buy an app and back out of the transaction they will sometimes offer you $1 off an app purchase. Probably only works for first time purchases.YMMV.
