According to a banner at https://www.samsung.com/us/smartp.../s/Device/ , this deal uses bill credits over 24 months. Exact wording is: "Save $400 on the S9 or S9+. No trade-in required. Credit applied to account over 24 months. Promotion valid on Verizon devices only."

Common Samsung Order Issues Solutions:
  • Carrier deals might not show the correct price until after you log into the account and get to the final checkout screen.
  • Start by adding any discount you may have to the account if applicable.
  • You might not see the discount price until the last step. Just try to go through the order process and see if the price changes for you.
  • Try clearing cache, logging in and out, new browser or PC or phone or tablet.
  • Try starting from scratch and only log in at the end when it forces you to.
  • Two Promo priced phones per samsung account.
  • Log into the shop Samsung app and see if the discount shows up at the final checkout then Log back into samsung.com and see if the discount now shows up at final checkout.

*Prices sometimes change during the order, but make sure the discount appears at checkout*

If you are having trouble seeing the discounted price, try selecting the Midnight Black color. As of ~1AM on 11/18, it seemed that the price goes up (or rather, the $200 discount gets voided) for all models if you choose any color other than black.

If the discount starts working for other colors, feel free to edit this wiki.

EXISTING VERIZON CUSTOMERS WITH LEGACY UNLIMITED DATA
Fine print leading up to checkout: "If you are an existing carrier customer, please be aware of the following in this paragraph - If this line has a legacy unlimited data feature and you continue with your upgrade, you will lose unlimited data and will be put on a 2 GB plan for $30/month plus all applicable upgrade fee, line access fee and all other fees, charges and taxes. If this line has any other plan, your plan will not be changed with this transaction."

Cricket Wireless Customers:
For the people that are using Cricket Wireless, read at PhoneArena that Cricket Wireless will have the Samsung S9 64gb or for 50% off. Cricket currently has the Samsung S9 for $699. 50% off will be $349.

As this is only speculation, if you buy from the retailers now, I would wait til Black Friday or Cyber Monday before you open it in case Cricket don't come through.

Phone Arena [phonearena.com]

As far as unlocking the Cricket S9 or any other phones: Cricket Unlock Policy [cricketwireless.com]

Eligibility requirements for current Cricket customers:
  • The device you want to unlock has been active for at least six (6) months of paid service.*
  • The device is designed for use on and is locked to Cricket's network.
  • The device has not been reported lost or stolen.
  • The device is not associated with a fraudulent account.

--------------------

Got a S9 64gb unlocked for Approx. $399 after tax.

1. Sign up and login in with t0p cb - $15 sign up bonus (search online or PM me) + 10% back on Samsung = $65 back
2. login to samsung website with EPP, EPP price S9 64GB = $480 + 8.x% tax = $522
3. Pay using a 2% cb credit card. = Save $10 as cash back
4. Once order is confirmed, it will show as backordered on manage orders page. click cancel and select reason as "Need early etc" website prompts for 10% OFF if you do not cancel, click on accept offer = $48 back.
5. Samsung sends a email confirming the 10% back refund adjusted in order.

For me Total worked out as sweet $399 Applause (YMMV) = $522 (Net payment) - $65 (cashback website) - $10 (credit card cashback) - $48 (Samsung refund) Smilie

Hope you guys can replicate.. All the best. Please rep if this is helpful!

When the S!0 comes out, you are going to say it is to expensive. By the time the price goes down, you will just say it's not a good deal, wait for the S11.
Quick side note:

Unlocked Samsung smartphones are no longer the first ones to get the latest updates.
1. Updates are sent from Samsung to all MAJOR Carriers
2. After all the MAJOR carriers approve the update, then the unlocked version gets released.

In most cases, carriers release the update first (Verizon seems to be first in line), then, the Unlocked models get the update soon.

Then,
Besides just that Unlocked Models get the update after ALL MAJOR carriers, the carrier that you are with also affects WHEN you get the software update.

With the recent Note 8 October Patch, Verizon got it first, then AT&T and Tmobile (On the unlocked model).

TLDR; Unlocked models will not receive the updates first anymore, they are good for people who are traveling.

Unlocked models is for people who don't want their phone locked to their carrier, but carrier models can offer additional features such as Network Bands and other features.
It doesn't matter. Put you carrier sim in the unlocked, boot up, and dont configure.
Flash your carrier's firmware and it will become an unlocked carrier phone

Doesn't look like you get any freebies with it though like you usually do with phones bought from Samsung.com
