Just doesn't make sense to me to have these things all using a local iP address. These things should be zwave or zigbee controlled.

I have 12 lights outside that are the candleabara base. I don't want 12 wireless new devices on my network

I've been looking for a z-wave color changing light bulb. Any suggestions?

The urlhasbeenblocked one on Amazon is very nice. Very little flicker and colors are very flexible.

Almost pulled the trigger last time when they were $11 each before I saw multiple comments on Amazon that these bulbs would lose the configuration after an power outage or accidental shutdown and you would have to set them up all over again.

The problem with urlhasbeenblocked is that they are also wifi and need to use their app. I am looking for zwave or zigbee, o use with Wink. The only zwave/zigbee lights I know that have color changing capabilities are the Sylvania ones.

Doubtful it helps, but my urlhasbeenblocked works on smart things

I'd like to understand why you don't want more wireless devices. Is it security thing? Is it network congestion? Is it compatibility with the rest of your stuff?

I actually prefer wifi home automation devices when it's a line powered device like light bulbs. They're easier to diagnose - I can ping them and see if they're on the router's DHCP client list. It's a good idea to set them up as a separate wifi network (which not all routers have the capability to do). That way you can manage them outside of the credentials you use for phones/tablets/laptops. It's also a good idea to blacklist them on the router's access list so they can't talk to the internet, so I still use another device to act as a hub for wifi devices (SmartThings / OpenHAB / Home Assistant).

I want something I can use in enclosed fixtures outside that I can change the color on based upon the next holiday. Can these easily do that? Would be great if I could flip the light switch and the light bulb remembers it should be green, otherwise how would I change the color and would I need to change color every time I turn them on?

urlhasbeenblocked are indeed compatible with Wink. You'll see, in the Wink app, the ability to add urlhasbeenblocked bulbs in the lighting tab.

Has anyone successfully flashed these with a custom firmware like Tasmota? These look like they might have a ESP8266.
