i bought this last month.
not that much smaller than my old 20k mah 100w powerbank. (2nd pic is this 10k on top of the 20k)

hm.. this 10k has four 2500mah 18650 batteries.

This is the 20k one i bought last year (and for cheaper than this 10k one EEK! ):
https://electronics.woot.com/offe...power-bank

So the 20k mah has eight 18650's??
How can 8 batteries fit that that small black box?

18650s are 2.5"x0.7"x0.7". The minimum size for a 20k is 5.1"x2.8"x0.7" without including hardware and wiring.

This product could potentially fit 20k if it were a little wider and used more expensive hardware (that is typically smaller in size)

You are assuming they both use the same type of battery.
The other one could be using 21700 cells or Lipo cells.

Thx.
Never occurred to me that it could be one of those more expensive types since the 20k was cheaper than the 10k in the OP EEK!

The 20,000 mah one you bought is flat lipo, this is 18650 batteries (generally better). Talix makes another that is 20,000 mah that uses 21700 batteries.

Wait.. why are 18650s better for a power bank than the more expensive Lipos?

Yeah... I was looking at this item & reading this thread trying to make sense of it since it looks almost identical to one I bought about a month ago. Definitely appears they make several different 'versions' of this with different specs but basically the same physical case.

I got a FIFA branded 20000mAh one for $35 (recent deal, expired unfortunately) that does up to 100W input/output per port, and up to 190W output total. I assume it probably uses 21700 cells because the back label says 4 cells at 5000mAh each.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0GVSKMT2Y

Having 100W input is awesome - it can go from empty to full in about an hour. Super nice not having to wait long for recharge. I won't ever buy another power bank with <60W PD input.
Screen is nice too (on the one I got), shows temperature, percentage, time to full/empty, and individual port input/output power, too.
Not sure if they're all like this, but you can recharge the power bank from either USB-C connection, so if something happens to the attached cable you're not left with e-waste.

Talix 20000mAh went on sale for ~$24 recently. Better deal but heavier too.

Could wait to see if it returns if it's not a critical buy atm.

Depends on what you want. For durability generally yes. Lipo needs better BMS, think laptop or EV, to maintain the long term durability that an 18650 has.

Cylindrical cells have predictable pressure and balance that maintains the lithium matrix better.

So they're larger and less optimal space wise, but likely will last longer in cheap equipment.

This is a good deal, but only if you have a need for it.

100W will drain very rapidly on an 10,000 mAh capacity. Like, 30-60 minutes of usable time on a highly energy efficient ARM or very recent x86 laptop.

If you buy two it's $29.99.

Update: Reviews say this quickly heat throttles to 25W. Huge pass.
