Okay, updated information with confirmed details. The deal is:

For $20 plus tax you get 3 months (each month is 30-days) of unlimited talk, unlimited text, and *5GB* of high speed 4G data each month. New activations only. Must be activated within 45 days of purchase but details also mention offer is only valid through 1/1/2019 ( https://www.mintmobile.com/promotions/ ). Being of the tin foil hat wearing variety, I suspect that Mint Mobile will interpret this to mean that the service needs to be activated by 1/1/2019 so the 45-days may be a bit of a red herring.

I have personally purchased this deal, having one family member using Mint Mobile, and I'm planning to switch another to Mint Mobile service. From experience I can therefore say that for the cost the service can't be beaten (assuming you have decent T-Mobile coverage where you'll be using the service). My out the door cost was $23.47 and it included free shipping with delivery in 4-days.

Mint Mobile also sells phones and they're including 5GB of data per month for three months (with unlimited talk and text presumably).

Both of the above deals seem like they must be purchased before 11:59 p.m. ET based on the countdown banner on the site.

Here's the deal link:

https://www.mintmobile.com/plans/

Good luck to all and happy Thanksgiving.

Here's what I originally posted which is now superseded by the above:
I was told that this deal would be posted Tue20nov2018 for Black Friday. The details, as best I can make out, are that if you sign up for the introductory 2GB data plan with unlimited talk and text for three months, you'll get "upgraded" to 5GB per month for those three months, and they'll also give you a $20 credit (presumably towards extending your service once your three months are over).

I've had Mint Mobile / MintSIM since late 2016. Their CS is far from stellar, but the value is definitely there if you want T-Mobile backed service.

Apologies if this deal doesn't come to fruition, or it's a bit different than indicated, but I wanted to share it with the community so keep a watch out for this deal.

READ BEFORE YOU SWITCH: International roaming is down for several weeks and no any ETA provided. It may take a month or two before it gets fixed. It took them 2 months to fix short sms 2 years ago.

Currently there's a $20 rebate available on this deal if you're a member of a rebate site (the rebate site without the "r" and with a .com). This should get you, essentially, three months for free.
(I couldn't find this rebate with free shipping, but I did find one rebate for $20 and free shipping on the rebate site which lets you dig for $)
Update: This has been reduced from $20 to $10

Update2: $20 rebate still available from a site that digs dollars.

Port in is possible ONLY during initial activation. There is no option to port in you number after activation.
Network runs on t-mobile towers only. There is no AT&T roaming in rural areas.
There are no T-mobile perks. Different rules for international roaming.
Data is unlimited, after LTE allotment speed drops to 128 kbs (slow than Edge).
Support is not useful. If its technical, call T-mobile directly, they see and can manage your connection; if its billing - forget about it.

been with them for 18 months.

call quality is good.

lately (last few months) it is taking forever (like 45 seconds) for outgoing calls to connect...very annoying.

CS is non-existent..have tried to complain and they do not pick up.

Got exasperated and waited on hold for 15 minutes to get them to give me my a/c # to prepare to port out...when I finally spoke to a CS rep , I was given the 'rubber hose' treatment asking why I wanted the a/c#..I told them just for record keeping..the CS rep snarked back at me that I want the # to port out.

I'm gone from these clowns in ~ 3 weeks.

They will fold up within a year.
Be advised that Mint had some really big issues recently: ports not going through, numbers being lost, payments not being acknowledged/accepted, etc. Absolute shiat show.
For anyone thinking about doing this in the Bay Area and actually uses it for the data - DO NOT DO IT. My cheap ass somehow put up with the bs for 9 months. I should have never renewed. So happy I switched back to TMobile now.

The data throttling during peak times makes it damn near unusable. I would also end up not receiving calls many times, texting usually worked (picture messaging never did even after following the instructions on their site to the T). The TMobile prepaid $40/month for 10GB of data plan is a much better bet long term. You have been warned Smilie

Mint mobile definitely great as i also been with them since last year. Only downside is they never have promotion toward existing customer and the network speed depend on your area

Yes. But the phone will eventually stop working if payments aren't kept up with.

Well it's an unpaid balance, but apparently the highly reputable seller says that it's ESN is clear.
So it will work now, but most likely stop working eventually? What if I pay for an unlock code, before that happens?

If the balance isn't paid off, T-Mobile will blacklist the phone and eventually it will stop working on all US networks. An unlock code won't do you any good in that situation.

Mint Mobile is still having issues with calls/texts that don't go through or don't arrive at the correct recipient. They recently escalated the issue to T-Mobile as they can't find a way to fix the problem.

Just wanted to say that I switched over to Mint Mobile 2 years ago from Verizon (even had grandfathered unlimited data at the time) and it was the best decision I have ever made. I save close to $1000 a year with this service, their customer service is great, and I have had little to none call quality or internet issues. I would say as of the past month or two though, I have texts that will not go through the first time. I understand they are aware of it and are working towards fixing it.

I'm in IT and having reliable service is important to me. MintSim has been very good to me when it comes to that at an amazing price.

ESN clear NOW. Doesn't mean it won't be locked in the future. Carriers are known to do "sweeps" periodically to reblock phones.

Basically, you're knowingly buying a stolen phone, and if it does get blocked, Paypal won't do shit about it, since you knew it was a phone with an unpaid balance.

Ok, so if I were to spend a little more, and get one with just a clean esn, from a reputable seller, then I have six months to return it, if it gets blacklisted? Let's hope the phone is in the same shape, as the day I bought it.
