What's upkeep cost on this? How often are you replacing filters and how much are they?

There is one-year replacement pack for this unit and it is sold for $50. It includes the HEPA filter which needs to be changed once a year and two carbon filters for odor control which need to be changed once every six months. It is wise to visually check the filters to see if they need to be replaced earlier, depending on the usage and the environment.

Bought one last year, and I'd do it again. kizilsakal is correct, we used it in some rough situations doing cleaning so had to replace the filters after about half the time. The difference between not having it though is clear, and I don't mind the cost.

You can set it to auto mode, and it will ramp up when it detects dirtier air (along w/normal timer mode). The highest setting is a bit loud if you're in the room much like a box fan on the highest setting.

I've been looking at this thing on and off on SD for the last 5 years I feel like, and every single time I still can't convince myself it's not an iPod Shuffle XXL

The Coway AP-1512HH Mighty model included in this thread is the most cost effective air filter, as determined by Wirecutter: https://thewirecutter.com/reviews...-purifier/

Good price, but yeah upkeep? We have the $500 Airmega in the office and its amazing. I have the $89.99 model at home and love it.

Cannot justify buying it yet. Does it make sense to buy it for Seattle weather? Air is pretty clean here. Hoping it might help mostly with airborne germs as during the winters one after another falls sick or gets flu. Does it help with that?

I bought this two and a half years ago for my newborn baby. It does an amazing quick job getting rid of cooking odors so I imagine it does the same for other airborn impurities. He's older now so I keep it in his bedroom as a white noise machine and fan to keep the room cool during warmer weather. He's been allergy-free luckily so I haven't kept up with filter changes as often. It still works well getting rid of odors after one year.
