This is purely my personal opinion and don't have to agree with me. so don't come bashing if you differ based on your experience. I read few recipes/chapters in the book and it seems Instant pot is not too suitable to for indian cooking except for making Rice and pressure or slow cooking final step of the recipe. Based on the cooking steps detailed in the book, most of the indian recipes involve lot of sauteing & manual cooking during the process, If one has to use the instant pot from being to end, you need to start & stop the cooker many times during the entire process. If I were, I will do all the sauteing & manual cooking steps in a separate saute pan and transfer the contents to & pressure cook the final step in instant pot.

I've been playing around with my 3qt that we just got. And I agree some of the recipes seems more complicated on the instant pot than just making it on the stove. But ... the instant pot allow for both pressure and slow cooking so you can brown the meat and then just add the rest of the ingredients and set it on as a slow cooker.

I wanted a stainless rice cooker (rather than all the teflon crap that despite using plastic scoops the coating still peels) and a larger slow cooker (using a 2 qt now) so rather than buy all of them separately, decided to go for the target BF special.

So far the rice and hard boiled eggs came out great (yes despite all the interest post about using quick release method - I just let it naturally release then soak in cold water and eggs are still easy to peel). Haven't made a meal yet but plan on pressure cooking some chicken to make some cheesy chicken and rice. Yes, still have to use the oven for this one...lol.
