If ordering through vitamix.com (where order fulfillment has been very slow), you can get $20 off the $219.95 price using affiliate links (e.g. 06-074) and free shipping

So the price comes $199.95 if you are willing wait.

A way for Vitamix to give commission to sites that provide reviews or helpful tips to Vitamix users. If you purchase a machine from one of those websites which redirects you to Vitamix.com,, the code will automatically appear on your cart or you can enter them manually during checkout.

There are several other discounted models to choose from in their factory reconditioned section. For a few more bucks ($250) you have some upgraded options to consider.

Coupon Code:
I ordered the reconditioned Vitamix 780 for $300 yesterday, and the code VITACHAMP reduced the price by 10%. I'd imagine that code applies to the OP blender in this thread as well.

Other than the buttons is there any difference between the OP and the Vitamix 780?

Still works for me. I should have clarified: I'm talking about ordering it directly from vitamix.com (not amazon), where the price is the same. Also, when ordering it directly from vitamix, I'm under the impression that warranty registration occurs automatically.

I just tested it on a reconditioned C-series, G-series and this Explorian and it worked on all three. (780 now says out of stock)

Note to all: when you add the VITACHAMP code it adds a spatula set to your cart. You can opt to remove the spatulas from your cart and still get the 10% discount.

Also, note that the other, nicer models are $250 and include a 5 year warranty, while the Explorian only includes a 3 year warranty. To each their own, but it makes more sense to me to pay $30 more for a nicer blender and a longer warranty.

I've done a lot of research recently. The motors and bases seem about the same on all models. The differences are in the extras, such as programmed settings. Many people prefer this base model since there are fewer things that can go wrong. I bought one a few days ago.

Although Amazon says it's the E310 model most people report getting the E320, which is the Costco model number. It does have a slightly different motor than the E310, 2.2hp vs 2.0hp.

One other confusion is that Amazon has in bold that it has a 90 day warranty. It actually has a 3-year warranty and Vitamix pays shipping both ways. Higher priced models have a 5-year or 7-year warranty.

You can find the specs for all models here:

While all of them should get the job done, I don't quite agree that the motors and bases are all the same:
  • Some models have 2.0 HP motors, a narrower base, and 3" blades
  • Some models have 2.2 HP motors, a wider base, and 4" blades
They both have their pros/cons:

I should have said essentially the same. The blade differences are due to low profile vs tall profile. The motor differences are very minor.

The main idea is that when you buy the more expensive models you're paying for bells and whistles and a longer warranty, not a more powerful device. The resulting smoothie, soup, etc, is going to be identical whether you paid $300 or $650 for a new blender.

Ah. Yes, precisely. Thanks Smilie

Hmm I used that code over the weekend and got both the spatulas and 10% haha. 290 shipped for a 780 tho wasn't bad.
