This is better than their Black Friday sale. I ended up ordering from HSN with 15% off for first time customers, but this is awesome too.

I agree! That's why I was excited to share when I found it. Hopefully it helps those out who were shopping around Smilie

The Mrs. has been asking for one forever, so thanks for posting.

I went with the Essentials bundle instead of the materials bundle...Hopefully that wasn't dumb but I think she'll need the knives and matts more than the material.

You're very welcome! I'm sure she'll love it either way Wink

I bought the SO a cricut mini a few years ago as an xmas gift. Cricut pulled the plug on their online portal ('craft room' if i recall) and deprecated all of their old machines in a fell swoop earlier this year. Now the lonely cricut is a boat anchor..

Does anyone have any alternatives to avoid getting locked in to this company again? perhaps something that uses open source software?

What am I doing wrong? I add the bundle $400 plus the cricut access $10. It makes my total $410 minus $40 for adding access, after tax and free ship my total is $400.

Cart:
Bundle - $400.01
Cricut Access - $10

Subtotal - $410
Tax - $30.53
Discount - $40
Total - $400.53

Are you buying the $9.99 subscription first?

My wife has gotten pretty heavy into making cards. She's got some manual crank cutter/embosser, tons of stamps, etc. She dropped a hint that she'd like the "automatic" version of her cutter, which is called the Sizzix Big Shot Express. It's about $160 or so. I told her I didn't see why she'd want to spend that much money just to run her templates through it to cut things, when there's cooler technology like these Cricut machines where she could have an endless number of vector images (or ones she creates herself) to use.

My concerns are with the "hidden costs". I see that there's a $10/month membership, but it supposedly gives you access to some number of images from them. $10/month isn't a big deal if it adds value. I worry, though, that she's going to find all sorts of things that are extra-cost.

Anyway, I don't think my wife plans to use it for anything fabric-related, so is there any other advantage to getting a Cricut Maker vs the Cricut Air 2?

To be honest, we're fairly new to the Cricut world but you can cancel the membership at any time so we used it to save the 10% and we plan to try it for a month with the machine to see if it's worth keeping, long term. I share your same concerns but even if you do need to buy a few other items that aren't part of the include 400 fonts and 50K+ images, you'll get a discount with the membership, at least that's how we're looking at it for now.

Here's an article that goes more into detail regarding the Cricut Access membership if you're interested! https://www.clarkscondensed.com/d...-worth-it/

Good luck and I hope that helps you all make the best decision for you.

There are a ton of things you can do without the subscription. Its a personal choice if you purchase the subscription.

I am literally only looking for a device to cut vinyl for stencils for large out door signs, what would be a good option for that?

This is live again (back in stock). It's too late for Christmas delivery, but still a good deal.

They also have the Essentials Bundle in stock again (same price as the Everything Bundle):

It depends on how big your signs are and how much effort you want to put into it. These machines only cut vinyl up to 12" wide.

recommendations of this vs the explore air 2?

I think for my initial intentions I'll just be making smaller vinyl cuts (using for metal etching on stainless tumblers and such) but i'm sure my kids will want shirts and I could see it growing. I've looked at reviews and comparisons and they aren't too convincing one way or the other. some of the advanced cutting blades seem cool, but not sure what they run (a quick google search could tell me) or how much more useful they are than the non-fancypants blades. I'd love to get opinions from owners. Thanks
