1. The open box iPhones are arriving unlocked.
2. These are the GSM only models, and will work on all carriers except Sprint (Sprint or Sprint MVNO).
They WILL work on Verizon postpaid and perhaps prepaid since Verizon supports non-CDMA iPhones on their network.They WON'T work on Verizon MVNO since those use CDMA, (Incorrect. If your MVNO will enable VOLTE on your account, the GSM iPhone will work on Verizon, but with fewer LTE bands available than a Verizon-model iPhone). with the 1 exception of Visible which uses LTE/GSM only.
3. These arrive in a generic box with new accessories. They appear to be A+ used trade-ins.
4. The battery is at 100% health so they are replacing the batteries.
5. There will be little, if any of the original Apple warranty remaining. It seems the 8 usually has a few weeks of warranty left, while the 8+ usually does not. Not sure about the X.
6. You don't need to port a phone number or deal with activation at all. The phone comes with a SIM preinstalled that can be activated online, or resold. The plan is attached to the SIM and starts once someone enters their details w/SIM card # into the simplemobile.com/activate [simplemobile.com] BYOD site and activates the SIM. It's not attached to your credit card in any way.
PHONE CONDITION
- 8 is usually mint condition.
- 8+ usually has some minor/hairline scuffing on back glass. Mostly not noticeable.
Sides / case itself seems always perfect.
Screen usually has no scratches, but sometimes will have some hairline ones, not visible with screen on.
- X condition I am not sure.

Not out of the box. Simple Mobile requires their devices to be on an active line of service for 12 consecutive months before you can request an unlock. Hope this helps!

No you can't.
And if I am correct, cricket ones can be unlocked on eBay while TracFone and their brands like simple mobile can't.
They do not
If I don't like the phone or service, I will trade in toward an unlocked XR using Apple's giveback program ($300 credit).
