Basically:
- V10 has bigger bin, similar weight
- V10 has a slightly smaller battery than V8, and recharge time is faster in V10
- V10 has 3 power mode, V8 has 2.
- V10 low power mode has less suction than V8 low power, but it runs longer than V8
- V10 med power mode is weaker than V8 high power mode, and it runs longer than V8
- V10 high power mode is stronger than V8 high power mode, but it runs shorter than V8
- V10 motorhead upgraded from older models because it added gaps to allow it to pick up larger debris on hard floor. This means it becomes a little more optional to get fluffy head from Absolute model

To sum up, V10 has a better max suction mode that will last shorter than a V8 max suction, and V10 makes a more flexible vacuum with 3 different power modes, but the "battery life per suction power" is more or less similar as V8. So it's a definite improvement from V8, but it is not a "perfect upgrade". This is in contrast to upgrade from V8 to V7 which was a perfect upgrade with no drawback whatsoever, where V8 is just better in everything from battery life to max suction power to having HEPA in Absolute model. V6 to V7 upgrade on the other hand was pretty much just a battery life upgrade, and there is no improvement in suction power, and it even lost the HEPA filter in a few V7 models including V7 Absolute. I feel like Dyson is also well aware of this, which is why they go on much much bigger sales on V7 version vs the V8 version.

IMHO V8 Absolute is a very good investment if you care about getting the "complete package" including the Fluffy Head, because it has very similar performance as the V10 for lower price tag. V10 is worth getting if you want the absolutely best suction, and because of its improved motorhead you can technically consider skipping the Fluffy Head to save money (Fluffy Head is worth it if your house has a lot of hard floor, and your house gets dirty very easily i.e. if you have kids or messy dogs that tend to leave large debris like cereal or dog kibbles on the floor, for example). I would say skip V7, unless you really want to save money, and your house has very little hard floor to clean, then it's worthwhile to get the Animal/HEPA model. It feels silly to get V7 absolute because you lose out HEPA filter entirely, unless you can get a deal for one of those below 200 bucks the it's worth considering.
Holy crap! I think this is the only time auto spell on my phone has ever gotten the wrong word and made it better... Motörhead! lol
Just ordered from Dyson website through web chat and asked for the price matching.

Ordering from Dyson homepage, you may be able to choose additional tools / kit. YMMV but if you can get them, I will say it's well worth to spend 30 min extra time instead of ordering it from Amazon.

I was able to add $75 worth Deep Clean Kit which is from current V10 promotion. You may able to choose different tool kits depends on how the conversation goes.

Added 'how to web chat with Dyson customer service'

Prepare - Amazon product page, Dyson product page, your name, address, phone, credit card info

In order to do the web chat, go to the one of the product page (go to V10 Animal page) and you will see chat option available bottom right. Again chat is not available from the main screen.

Once you activate chat window, it will ask you type the question / main topic. DO NOT TYPE ANY QUESTION!! Just hit bottom button to proceed to the chat room. If you type question it will show knowledge base info and you have to exit the window after reading it.

After connected with the customer service, ask nicely about the Amazon product match. It will take few minutes they verify it. CS may ask you to pick tool kit. Ask them to add BOK or Soft Roller ($125 value), chances are very low. If yes you are lucky if not go pick one of the clean kit ($75) from above.

CS will ask your info (name, address, phone, cc info) to generate secure payment link. You pay through the payment link, then you will receive invoice within few minutes.

Hope this helps.

Thanks op. Also, if you don't want the animal, the Motörhead v10 is $351 at Best Buy. But if you get it through Google express and still have a coupon you can take off another $20 bringing it to $331.

Dyson will usually price match as long as it's in stock when I chatted with them about a month ago

Just the thoughts of someone that has a mostly non-carpeted floors with area rugs and runners throughout the house...and a Newfoundland dog.

I purchased the absolute version from dyson during their black friday sale and the vacuum is pretty amazing for cordless. I find I use the normal motorhead for most applications. I've used the fluffy roller head for a few applications but even If I don't feel like swapping heads, the regular brush head does a really good job of picking stuff up along the edges/corners. It doesn't have that "buff" effect of the fluffy roller head, but it removes the normal debris just as well in my opinion.

Absolute usually comes with the soft roller head attachment as well, which is nice if you have primarily hard floors, as opposed to carpet.

You need a soft roller more than the dok.
