For the uninitiated, this game is a first-person puzzler with a Stanley Parable vibe. Those who enjoy the puzzles and feel of Portal will likely enjoy this. The VR version comes with the main DLC expansion, 'The Road to Gehenna' and can be played using a Vive, Rift, or Microsoft Mixed Reality Headset. The game released around four years ago to (still) raving reviews and isn't too restrictive as far as playing on a budget computer (if purchasing the non-VR version, of course).
And, for our non-VR friends, the original version of the game is also available for the same price (though it does not come packaged with the DLC). Unfortunately, buying one does not come with the other version; and, there are no differences between them, so there is little point in purchasing twice.
damn I've wanted to play this for a long time but don't have VR. if I get the regular version am I missing out anything without the DLC?
If you're concerned about missing out on the DLC, that pack that includes the 'Road to Gehenna' is also on sale for $2.27[steampowered.com]. So, while it's a bit of an upcharge, you can get the same experience as the VR edition of the game.
I just finished my first play session with the game, and I don't think it's a terrible loss if you don't play it with a VR headset. Just be warned that once you've solved a puzzle, it's unlikely you'll have any replay value to experience it again in the future. In some cases, I can already tell that you have to use a bit of reflexes, which can undoubtedly irritate players who are not used to VR.
According to reviews of the DLC, the expansion is worth it. The base game, from what I can tell, has about seven worlds (maybe more) with a handful of puzzles (up to five or so). The expansion adds another four worlds with puzzles that are significantly more difficult than the main game. I'm a big fan of these types of games, and if puzzles are your forte, picking up that content pack during this sale is probably a safe bet.

This past Black Friday, there was a bundle for this game and 4 of the Serious Sam VR games that roughly came out to $5.71 per game.
I'm debating on waiting for the next sale in the hopes that I can snag all of those games together.
Does anyone have experience with the Steam sales where you might be able to buy games in a sale bundle individually at the sale price?
I may be wrong, but in my experience with Steam the developer/publisher set discounts for individual products with an additonal option to set an extra discount for the bundle itself.
When you look at a bundle that has content you already own, that content is taken off of the sale price. So if you own Talos Principle, they subtract the sale price of that item from the cost of the complete bundle and it will not be part of the price for the remaining items in the bundle.
I bought a Borderlands 2 GotY key a little while back, which contains a good amount of content from the Handsome Collection that went on sale at a later date. The cost of purchasing the Handsome Collection dropped from $19.99 to around $12 during the sale because I had already owned that content from my previous purchases. You only miss out on the additional discounts of the items you've purchased in the past.
