Yes, this WAS the regular price just a year ago. For anyone confused why this might be a deal, just google 2017 Madagascar vanilla. For example, price for a 16oz bottle of Costco vanilla has been $34.99 lately. So this is really more of a return to regular prices than anything else.

dammit... after a few months of looking for a good price I finally gave in last month and bought one from Costco for $35.
What?? No, it's not. It's also 16oz and cost me almost $35. And yes, I was sure but still just double checked. The bottle I paid almost $35 in the kitchen is 16oz.
For anyone else clueless enough to comment without knowing what they're talking about, vanilla prices skyrocketted a year ago after weather disaster (cyclones) in Madagascar, where almost half the world's supply is grown.
it takes time but is incredibly simple. I use vodka, around 16 oz, cheap is ok. Depending on how strong you like your vanilla, I use between 2-3 vanilla beans. I halve the bean the long way and scrape out the seeds, put them in the vodka, chop up the rest of the bean and also put it the vodka. Close the bottle and shake. Allow to sit in a cool place for about 6 weeks shaking it every now and then. As I use it, I add additional beans and vodka. My current bottle is about 1/3 full of bean parts. Just be sure to strain out the bean pod parts when using, the little black seeds are ok and what makes baked goods taste extra delicious. I prefer homemade vanilla to store bought any day. There is less of a chemical after taste. I get many compliments on my baked goods and this is part of the reason, quality ingredients make quality end product.

There was a 10% coupon. Good price. I don't know why it's so inflated over other brands though.
