First time poster. Lowest cost I have seen. Costco has TurboTax Premier federal & state for $69.99 - $15 starting on Jan 2. Deluxe federal & state will be $49.99 -$10. Other editions have $10 or $15 discounts.

Speaking of downloads, LINK [bigtaxdeal.com][bigtaxdeal.com] (linked off Target's site) had digital download of Premier with State eFile for $22.
I just bought this through PayPal and it's installing from a zipped file right now. It opened fine and is now updating.

Maryland State Income Tax is just copied off Federal Taxes. TurboTax without State eFile will still compute your MD forms.
MD has an online "iFILE" Site [marylandtaxes.gov] [marylandtaxes.gov] to eFile personal taxes.
So, in MD, there is really no need for TurboTax State eFile. vomit
You just have to copy from the State Forms computed by TurboTax to the MD iFile SITE.
Other States might have similar programs, check your local listings. Smilie

I hate seeing people get screwed into paying loads for tax prep because companies like Intuit and and H&R block lobby to make filing taxes a pain in the ass. Most people do not have particularly complex tax needs, and 70% of people in the US qualify for free tax preparation based on income.

If you make less than $66,000 in Adjusted Gross Income you qualify for free tax preparation. Below are some resources.


The best resource I know of is the non-profit The United Way. They offer tax preparation using H&R Block Deluxe. This allows you to file your Federal returns and up to 3 state returns for free. State filling is where you'll generally get charged a premium, and the Deluxe version they offer is a step up from H&R Block's "free" offering. Check it out here:

If for some reason you'd prefer not to use the United Way/H&R Block, the IRS has a list of free tax preparation websites here:

If you need more assistance the IRS makes volunteers available to assist people in doing their returns through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, and they offer assistance to older adults through the Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) program. Find a location near you here:

Many city and county office also have free tax preparation available to citizens at libraries and government offices throughout tax season. Check your local government website.

I love everything about Costco. That return policy is wonderful. I don't abuse it like some people do. I don't always find out if I like a product or if it works in 30 days (if purchased from Amazon) or 15 days (if purchased from Best Buy).

Amazon has done nothing to prevent selling counterfeit goods. They match prices to get your business and hurt other businesses. They are a monster and the more stores that close, the worse they will get. I've found Amazon unreliable in their shipping times (many articles online about this) and they have pretty much stopped giving any compensation for missed delivery dates.

Same here, Costco has always had the best return policy and their coupon sales are unmatched. I've already saved a ton with the 4% back with the Costco Citi card on the gas purchases along with their much lower gas prices. In my experience, I get some of the best mpg numbers using Costco gas, similar to Chevron.
