Android One should be at the front of the list for security and OS updates. You lose using the finger print sensor as trackpad as a big tradeoff. That and some custom Moto software is removed.
Yes, I placed two separate orders and both orders got the discount... just not sure which of the 64GB version phones to keep.

OLED to IPS display
Quad core Snapdragon 821 vs 8 core 630. Its a flagship vs next years mid range. I agree it is not really a step forward. It may be a bit more power efficient being newer but they are both 14nm.
You should try to get a deal on a Pixel 2 or Pixel 3. The Motorola would work if you just need something with a new battery but it is not a step forward.

Even though the Snapdragon 821 is slightly older quad core chipset, it the has the slight edge over Snapdragon 630 which is an octa-core chipset, at least according to this link:

The Snapdragon 821 also features the more faster Adreno 530 GPU (519 GFLOPS) that will give more performance in games than the Adreno 508 (160 GFLOPS) of Snapdragon 630. Overall, the Snapdragon 821 is better.
