Marantz SR7012 9.2Ch 4K Surround Receiver - $869 FS

Various authorized Marantz dealers have the Marantz SR7012 Surround Receiver on sale for $869 through Amazon. (Or from $874 on eBay if you prefer, or have eBay bucks to use).

I ordered last week from Sound Distributors over eBay and received a brand new, factory sealed unit so I'm guessing this is overstock from the manufacturer. But they are listed as "like new" so YMMV on condition if you choose another vendor.

Not a bad price. Very similar to the Denon x4400h I bought (if you look at teardowns they are basically the same) but the marantz is supposed to be better for music (something about hdam chip and how they tuned the receiver). I didn't feel the price difference was justified when I purchased last month, at prices today I'd have to reconsider. I do like the look of the marantz better as well but my AV equipment is no longer underneath my tv and as visible so that didn't make as much of a difference for me.

It's a great receiver and appears to run cooler than the Denon X4400/X4500 because it is taller with more ventilation space inside.

Nice price on a great receiver (thanks Chris2).
Very tempting, but I'm going to hold out for a bit longer now that HDMI 2.1 is finally starting to show up.

Not sure I want to chance it on getting a used one. But will definitely keep my eyes open as prices are dropping.

This is probably a HUGE YMMV, which is why I didnt post it. Yesterday I was calling Best Buys with magnolia looking for a Sony ES 1100, open box. No luck, but the lady said they had a Marantz SR7012 for $799 brand new in box, clearance.

I told my friend and he bought it. It was the last in the area. I wanted it, but since I dont have a 4k projector, I am going to stick with my pioneer elite SC-87.

I have the SC-75 which is 4k, but I'm not upgrading my JVC pj any time soon. I only bought it because I got it for $500 as an open box at BB. Am a fan of their digital amps too. My MA speakers love it.

I have this receiver in my movie room with 9.1.2 set up. It is fantastic. It supports 2 Atmos speakers, but will need an extra amplifier if you would like to install 4 atmos speakers. Minor drawback, considering not a lot of people set up 4 atmos speakers.

2 zones, supports Airplay 2 and HEOS. Basically checks off all the boxes for anyone looking for up to date receiver.

Unfortunately, your SC-75 does not support 4k BluRay. Nor does my SC-87. The receivers do not have HDCP 2.2.

Luckily I ran 2 cables to my Projector, which is a JVC as well. (DLA-X55R). I am not allowed to replace it, until I use all the bulbs that came with it(3, 1 original, 1 for buying an open box, and 1 for buying the BB warranty).

I am still on my first bulb :/

I bought a new Marantz receiver for a friend through an eBay store, which apparently isn't an authorized seller. After having it plugged in for a day, it decided to attempt an auto-update over wifi and locked up (very common problem for Marantz). Marantz wouldn't help in any way other than giving me the phone number to the nearest authorized service center. I called them, which was a 1.5 hour drive away, they wanted $300 just for diagnostics (plus whatever they felt like charging to reboot it) and had a 3-month waiting list. Even with that repair, no one could say if it would fail the next update and lock up again.

Through trolling forums I was able to reset and get it to boot in a sort of limp mode. I can no longer do the auto-setup thing nor go through most of the menus, but I was able to adjust the output per channel and was able to manually adjust it so it was usable. Fortunately I remembered the levels from when I first set it up. Never again will I trust anything they sell, no matter how great the spec sheet claims.

If you only had it for a day and it failed... why didnt you just return it?
