Apparently, this is a Sam's corporate offer rather than via a third party. Fill in your email and you will receive a certificate to take to the store. $45 offer must be redeemed within 30 days of membership activation.
Update: Now expires March 7.
Here's how Scan & Go works:
Scan items as you add them to your cart
Pay on your phone when you're ready
Skip right past the checkout lines.
*The $45 incentive will be automatically deducted through Instant Savings at checkout when you purchase at least $45 in eligible products. Should you need to return any of the items purchased on this basket, the prorated discount will be factored into the return value on any eligible products. See the Sam's Club terms and conditions for more details on our returns policies. Eligible products are regularly priced items sold in-club or online at and by SamsClub.com. Ineligible products are any items already discounted by Instant Savings, as well as alcohol, tobacco, Sam's Club membership fees, gift cards, milk, pharmacy prescriptions, eCigarettes, fuel, postage stamps, lottery tickets, auctions, Photo Center, service plans, or taxes. To qualify for this offer, you must enroll in auto renewal for your annual membership fees. A valid email address is required for enrollment in the Auto Renew Program.
**Join now as a new Club member for $45 (plus tax in some places) and receive an offer for $45 off one transaction of $45 of more of qualifying purchases within the first 30 days. Must present this offer physically or digitally to join Sam's Club and receive this incentive. To qualify for offer, purchaser must use a valid credit or debit card and will be opted into Auto Renewal upon first transaction in club. By enrolling in the auto renew program, you authorize Sam's to charge the card selected an annual recurring charge in the amount of the, then standard, membership fee for all active memberships on your account. Manage or cancel your auto renew program anytime by logging on to your account on SamsClub.com.

Sure, I'd love stuff like Scan n Go and renewal offers at Costco - the best is the $20 GC deal around xmas - but the product quality at Costco is far superior to Sam's Club, the return policy is better, and the workers seem genuinely happy to be there whereas at Sam's Club its like walking into a warehouse of The Walking Dead.
As slickdealers we really shouldn't care though about anything other than the deal and quality of product. For me Costco pays for itself via gas which is 20-40c cheaper than anywhere else, and the few things I buy there like roast chicken/ribs, some nuts and other stuff that price well in bulk, and occasional deal on random stuff. I only sign up for Sam's Club when they basically give the membership for free.
This offer is kinda tempting but I'm honestly not sure I'd have $45 of Scan n Go products to even buy, and a deal isn't really a deal if you end up buying stuff you wouldn't have bought without "the deal". Would love to hear from people stuff they used the $45 on, maybe help others figure out if the deal is good for them or not. Too bad this year Sam's doesn't seem to be doing the groupon/living social deals from years past.
Re: how does Sam's club tell if you are a new member, its by email/phone number. Login to your old/expired account and make sure to either set both to something you won't use or just don't use them when you go in. The one around me really doesn't care, the computer lets them proceed with a new member if you give them a new email/phone. I'd swap every year for 4-5 years between two emails (main/gaming) and phone #s (home/mobile) and no problem renewing even when the first one hadn't yet expired. Didn't really see a deal so far last month or this month that felt it was worth renewal, this one is pretty decent but again depends on what you may buy with Scan n Go. I never used it.
Those that are pinching pennies are self-described cheapskates. There is nothing wrong with that but they don't make up the majority of our economy.

..and by destroy i mean continue to descend costco into overpriced hell.
...proving once and again capitalism wins and people need to compete on price and efficiency, not just morals of paying their employees more, etc. in the end, the most number of consumers need to 'survive' and survive they do by paying the least and making the most of their own money.
