Yes mine is set up this way and works as yours does. If you go direct to the TMobile you won't get the same speeds. It's a beast router and I may get a 2nd for the mesh. I'm just stating what I've dealt with in trying to replace my dios.
I will have to replace my gateway router with this one and see.

Only thing that kept me from doing it is that my upstairs setup is using AP with another FIOS router using MOCA network. I have to run an ethernet line up there to replace that setup but have been lazy since it works. Smilie Yes, slow - gets about 80Mbps or so only.

I just ordered my 3rd one of these. I've had one for a year or so. Grabbed a second last month and set it up as a wireless mesh node. This gave me seamless streaming in my master bedroom. I'm going to add the third in my garage. These sure are the best bang for your buck.

Do you need to download firmware to use it as Mesh network?

Beware, if you have been running stock TMobile firmware all this time, you probably have automatically updated to TM 374.3199 firmware and a locked CFE. So you would need to use an entirely different procedure up til step #8 in Johnny2x4's instructions - the same as if you'd been rolled-back by ASUS.

You might want to try this: http://asustmac1900.sploitworks.com/readme/Asus%20TMobile%20TMAC1900%20to%20Asus%20RTAC68U%20(NEW%20... [sploitworks.com]
Mine is on 3199. Can I just follow the Bay Area Tech Pros guide or should I follow the doc you provided?

BayareaTechPros doesn't have any concrete help for 3199. He refers to a google doc that has several fairly complex methods. The value of the link I provided is he has automated much of the process. You won't have to create a web-server - he already has it running on his system. I haven't done either method since I avoided getting in that predicament. So I'll stand-back and let someone else judge which is easier.

Alright thanks for the heads up. I'm going to do some more research before I embark on this. Glad I saw your post though.

Just spoke with back office order support. They aren't sure why the orders are all showing as backordered, but said the routers are clearly out of stock on their end. They saw the initial shipping estimate and the updated backorder status.

They did, however, note that the order was properly submitted, so suggested I check back in a couple of days.

I'm hoping that the option to buy wasn't a glitch.

No. You have to flash it.

Anyone having issues with the WiFi dropping? My unit worked fine before flashing but I added to a Lyra system in aimesh node and it constantly drops devices. I'm not sure if it's firmware or if the device is done for. I've had it for a few years.
