There's no point. He has to comment on every Unifi thread and talks about his consumer stuff as if it's comparable to make himself feel better for overspending on an upside down octopus. It's funny seeing him claim to know what he's doing when his previous posts in other deal threads show that to be very untrue. He doesn't understand the WiFi standards and seems to equate the mbps on the flashy box he fell for to actual router capability.
You can see it even in this thread when he recommends two switches from TP-Link and Cisco that don't come close to being a better solution and one isn't even gigabit. He's just an armchair tech expert that one day may realize he has no clue.
It is sad though because he pops up in every. Single. Unifi thread and some people probably buy his nonsense. Best to just ignore.
Please note this is NOT the PoE version. I saw confusion on this the last time this version of the switch was on sale.
That in NO WAY makes this a bad buy, unless you need PoE that is.
I have the PoE version of this, but still considering this one as I have mostly filled up that switch and still have some future plans, and I could free up ports on my PoE switch for actual PoE devices... hmmm...
Your router is newer than what I had before I moved to Linksys and then to Ubiquiti. I have over 50 devices on my network. Just because your AC5300 can handle 4 cameras doesnt mean it would be issue free in my home using my cameras and my devices loads.
Thats a nice subtle insult. "Than again I am a lot more knowledgeable about setup, than most average users" I am not an average user.[imgur.com] Your AC5300 also costs the price of 3 ubiquiti AC lite APs which could handle a lot more devices/load and have better 5.0ghz home coverage when spread out. Also, you mention it is a dedicated 2.4ghz smart home AP.. you arent even using it for all your home devices to feel a real load and unless your cameras are streaming 100% of the time (vs. on event) to the cloud (like nest) or to a home NVR or Blue Iris server, they arent putting load on your network.
Also "So the consumer grade routers can handle them, just need to know how to set them up." Suggests it cant handle the load without special setup while ubiquiti handles it with nothing special to change for less money.

Wow great price!! Bought this for around this price with eBay 20% off but to have it directly from B&H photo is great price. I'm not sure how the warranty work when I have bought it from eBay but hopefully I don't have to find out. Lol. The switch itself is great and probably way overkill (only using 8 or 9 ports atm) for my home usage but loving the flexibility of managed switch for VLAN and also for monitoring usage through UniFi controller.

It's actually somewhat loud under a heavy load. Doesn't even run under a light load OR a well temp controlled environment. If you have it in a closet or cabinet and the ambient temp is over 80F, it will be running.
So you overpaid by $2 then. You got a good deal too. At least if something happens, eBay and Paypal have your back. Newegg has been on a downward spiral with their return and exchange policies.

Would you go with this and a couple of POE injectors or go for the POE model
I think this depends on how many PoE devices you plan to have.
If you plan to only ever have a Unifi AP or something, I would just use an injector and save the money. If you plan to go the PoE camera route and/or several APs and whatever else, definitely save for the switch. Injectors need power outlets and somewhere to sit and all that. I think in a year you will be happy having spent the extra money to have it all in one.
But again, if just planning one or even two APs, I would probably just go injector, especially since most Unifi APs come with injectors (I have two still sitting in the box my NanoHDs came in).
