I switched from Mint to Red Pocket.
At least in my area and some of the cities I've traveled to, Red Pocket is much better. I've had way too many problems with
Mint. MMS not working, missed calls, spotty coverage, etc.
Mint is getting ready for their Super Bowl ad https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LhkcQbhiOiM&feature=youtu.be [youtube.com]

Here is where they announced it on Reddit - https://old.reddit.com/r/mintmobi..._mint_fox/

The referral program runs through 2/28 - so I'm guessing that's how long the promo runs

You won't be able to use this to extend your service, this will be for a new number.

My recommendation is use Google voice (GV) for your main number and just forward your Mint number to GV. On Android you can even originate calls from your GV number, so everyone only sees your GV number in caller ID.

When your 90 days of Mint is up, just discard this Mint number and get an entirely new number, then set up a new forward in GV.

In the last 8 years, I have probably had 20 carrier numbers, hopping from promo to promo, but everyone only needs to know GV number, which has stayed constant.
IF the plan is only for new customers than You could but would not be able to keep the same number when switching sims so especially good for Google Voice users. Keep in mind though that officially Mint Mobile says you need to activate within 45 days of buying. Many have stated that they have activated past the 45 days but that is a risk you would have to take. Another thing you could do is buy one SIM now and hopefully the sale will still go on 45 days later to order another SIM so as to be assured that the additional SIM will be good. I believe their last sale on their $15 plan lasted close to that long. Your call.

I got it around Christmas for $20 for the 3 months and have used it the last week and all is good. At least in my area it works fine. Better than Red Pocket , but Mint uses TMobile so you need to check local coverage..,..and there is a use by date on the back of the sim card package , 5-6 months in the future but that might change.....

Do you use this as a "Replacement Sim " on an existing account to add the 3 months of service?

How would this work for existing customers? It looks like it comes with a SIM so I'm guessing if it did work you need to change phone numbers (?).

I had so many issues with mms and group messaging on Mint, even though I had my settings exactly the way they told me to do them. It's worth it to just pay more for something that is reliable.

I literally just bought the 3 month plan yesterday for full price. Anything I could do to get this price instead?

Do you know if there is any MVNO that's exclusively on Verizon? I am assuming that one will have best quality service

Its 45 Days, From FAQs

I'm currently locked in a contract with my current provider. Can I buy it now and activate it later?

Sure you can! You have up to 45 days from your plan purchase date to activate your SIM card. If you need more time then please contact our support team at [email protected] or call us at 213-372-7777.
