FWIW, I have a now probably 7 year old Shark (not this model exactly) that I bought refurb'd from Big Lots. It's running strong. On day one, do read the manual, find the filters and keep those clean. Check that the roller doesn't get clogged with hair. Keep those two running and you should do just fine with a refurb. Great deal IMHO.

I ordered this the last time around and it's amazing. I use it to vacuum my cars and works great around the house. I've been pretty loyal to Shark so far but just got a portable Ryobi vac since I already have so many 18v Ryobi batteries and going wireless is even better for daily clean up.

Grabbed the Lift-Away-Pet the other day at Wally for $75.00. Is this one that much better even being a refurb??? I could easily return to Walmart and grab this one. This is the one I picked up:

They are basically the same exact vacuum. Same features, functions, and almost identical accessories. The refurb units has 16" crevice tool whereas the one you picked up has a 5.5" crevice tool. I think it just comes down to whether you want to make a drive to return yours to save $15
