Back when ToolsNow was Cumins Tools I bought their $10 4" angle grinder. Had smoke bellowing out of it the second time I used it. I have seen HF sales on them in the past tho for about $10.

The blue "Drill Master" ones go on sale for $10, but they are considered single project throw-away tools.

The orange ones (4" or 4.5", differing only in the disk mounting hole size and guard diameter) are much better and often go on sale for $16-$18.

I've abused the orange chicago one that I paid 15 bucks for, no complaints so far.

Visited my local HF today and noticed an abnormally large amount of clearance tags throughout the store. Some were small car detailing items, household stuff, but there were some $28 impact sets for 10 bucks. Has anyone else seen a large amount of clearance in their store?

We have a bunch of 4.5" HF blue angle grinders in the shop. Some are 6+ years old and have been through hell, especially the one I have at home. My home use one was used to grind concrete for hours (I was remodelling and used a larger concrete grinder in one room that had a rough floor, BUT it couldn't get closer than 6" to each wall. So I had roughly 60ft linear feat, 6" wide, of concrete that was ground with an HF 4.5" angle grinder.

A few years later I was digging holes for a privacy fence in the back yard and hit some relatively big tree roots that were about 2.5 feet down the hole. The post hole digger gave me a diameter of 8", so I couldn't get down there with any conventional tool to cut these roots. I went out and bought a small 4.5" circular saw blade at Lowes, installed it on my HF angle grinder, and then zip-tied and duct taped the angle grinder to a long piece of PVC pipe. I then turned the grinder on and lowered it down the hole and it absolutely destroyed those roots very quickly. To get all the way through the roots, the grinder was finally digging and partially submerged in dirt.

That same grinder still works to this day, it is on the second set of spare brushes and the on/off switch is caked up from concrete dust and dirt, but those aren't faults of the unit, they're the result of my abuse.

These cheap blue angle grinders used to go on sale for $5/each a few years ago. Now you never see them less than $10/each. The only things I'd complain about is that they're not as ergonomic as some more expensive models, and they tend to vibrate a bit more in your hand versus other higher end angle grinders.

I've had my orange $10 one for a good 5-7 years & have abused the heck out of it for just about every job under the sun. Always has worked beautifully for me. I keep telling myself that when it dies that I'll buy a higher end one, but it won't do it.

Plus with them being cheap it is worth it to have multiples so you don't have to bother changing wheels. I currently have 2 - 1 with a grinding wheel and 1 with a wire brush. Both have lasted a good long time.

Yes, I own that set and it is a very nice set. I bought it over the craftsman set because it was cheaper and had less filler allen wrenches, drill bits, and other junk and actually had a lot of sockets. The ratchets actually feel tougher and tighter than my craftsman's and they have a really nice smooth finish, not the pitted, rough finish all the new craftsman ratchets have. My beef with the pitted finish is it makes the tools a pain to clean when they are covered in grease. Anyhow the case is all right, the handle does not feel solid but has held up so far, but I normally just carry it flat and not by the handle. Also keep the foam in between the trays otherwise the sockets will shift when you are moving it around. Other than set overall it is a steal at $140, and I would purchase it again.

If you are worried about money, I would just buy what you need to replace the missing pieces in your Craftsman set. Unless you are missing a ton, it's not going to cost you $140 at HF to find whatever is gone.

I bought the 301 piece set during the last ITC night sale. It's definitely worth the cash, I grew up using nothing but Craftman and ocassionally Mac tools. And this set is better than both. Very high quality socket wrenches and a ton of sockets, pliers, screw drivers. Although the case works, but is crappy plastic, better than a cardboard box though. Get it for $139.99 with the coupie, you won't be dissapointed.
