That new 1/2" impact is it heavy like the old one? I like the new one because it's a tad more compact.
Never used the old one but this one weighs 6 lbs so figure you're holding a bag of sugar and then some. As you can imagine, it does the work for you and I've found you don't have to "death grip" it, just keep it from spinning. If you're holding on real tight, applying lots of forward pressure (neither of which is necessary) your hand and wrist will let you know about it after a while. As far as being compact, the only thing I can compare it to is my old lower end Sanborn impact. I absolutely prefer the design, feel and performance of my beasty over it.

Sorry, I tried a quick search and I didn't see anything, but I'm sure it's been covered before.

I just got my first coupon email with HF today, even though I bought about $225 of stuff on Saturday.

http://widgets.harborfreight.com/...ycode=1012

If I'm reading the terms of the current 20% off $100 coupon correctly, I can take my receipt into the store with the coupon and get around $45 off, right? Any confirmation would be awesome. I'm calling to make sure tomorrow, but it would make my night if I can confirm this now. Thanks.

If your local store honors the policy as stated on the Q you should be OK but, as the emperor states above, it's often a big YMMV. It also depends on how much of your order was purchased using Q's (20% off or individual item). Those purchases won't qualify for the "extra 20% off". Basically, if you purchased everything without using any Q's (except maybe the Q for a free item with purchase) this extra 20% off should get you about $45 bucks back as long as your purchase meets the REST of the terms of the Q:

*Cannot be used with other discount, coupon, gift cards, Inside Track Club membership, extended service plans or any of the following: compressors, generators, tool storage or carts, welders, floor jacks, Campbell Hausfeld products, open box items, in-store event or parking lot sale items. Not valid on prior purchases after 30 days from original purchase date with original receipt. Non-transferable. Original coupon must be presented in store to receive the offer. Limit one coupon per customer per day.

Here you go my friend. Works very well, except I hated the blue flame stickers and tore them off. Looks much better to me with a little Armor All on the plain black plastic than the cheap decals.

Just in case someone is interested, I went to HF today and was given the 20% discount ($45 or so) no questions asked even though they had to manually input the roughly 40 items it took to add up to my $230 total. Great service.

Of course I then proceeded to spend the discount for more products, but they let me use the 15% off coupon right next to it too.

Can anyone comment on the quality of their power tools? Looking at getting a mitre saw from them.

In a word: Meh.

In most cases, the tool will get the job done, but they should be considered semi-disposable. I used to have a HF sliding/compound miter saw, and it actually worked OK, but I ended up selling it and buying a higher quality name-brand saw, because I just couldn't get the accurate cuts I was looking for with the HF saw. If you're looking for something quick and cheap that will do the job(angle-cutting studs for framing, some exterior trim, etc), you probably won't be disappointed. If you're looking for professional results with the tool doing the work, I recommend looking elsewhere and investing more money. You _can_ get decent results for things like interior trim, but it will take you 3 times longer, and you'll generate a lot more scrap, than if you invest in a higher quality tool.

Another note.... The blade can make a world of difference with a miter saw. Definitely do your homework and buy the right blade for the job you're doing.
