Harbor Freight doesn't sell much soldering stuff do they.

I don't even see soldering chisel tips on the website.

Really miss old-school Radio Shack.
Over the years they have done limited runs of misc soldering items (some good, most junk) but it's certainly not a staple on their site...

A few years back for example they carried a rebranded Hakko 936 solder station under the 'Chicago Electric' name, dollar for dollar it's a VERY good Asian solder station, and although HF didn't carry any extra tips, there are a lots of tip options for that station from other vendors... But alas they have since stopped carrying that solder station and now only carry the junk plug in wand...

Is there any way to reduce this noise? I was thinking of trying to make some sort of noise baffle to stick over the motor (without restricting airflow). Anybody do this before?
For most 'commercial' applications I have seen shops build closets around the compressors, but don't extend the walls to the ceiling thus allowing plenty of breathing and heat removal... But, for home use the best option I have seen is to construct a box out of 1" through 2" foam board that fits over the compressor with a few inches all around... For light use the box can be left in place, it's only if you are doing something like sand blasting or painting where the compressor is running full tilt with rapid duty cycles that it needs more breathing air and cooling... The reason for foam is that it's super light weight and easy to lift off when you need to put the compressor to use...

That's a good idea, I may try that out. Are you talking like this insulation foam board? http://www.lowes.com/pd_304089-21...facetInfo=

Just cut it into a box around the compressor, leaving the top open?

Yes the extruded polystyrene foam as you linked, not the white stuff that turns into clingy snow Wink

I would put a top on it, at least a partial top, you can punch a few vent holes in the top to let heat out... As I said if you are going to run the compressor with a lot of duty cycles best to remove this so it doesn't heat up, but for the occasional on/off that most people use at the house it can remain in place...

You can simply duct tape the box together or I have found Loctite Power Grab Tub Surround to work very well for constructing things from foam, and it's easy water/soap clean up...

Ok well I have a 3rd buddy now buying a kayak so now my roof rack will not carry all three so time to buy a trailer and get to customizing. Have any of you bought the trailers and what are your thoughts on them. I am kind of looking at the 48 x 96 fordable one for like 280 right now. But just looking at anyones personal thoughts on them i keep reading to repack that hubs with quality grease. and I am looking on the internet to see some custom camping and kayak builds. i want to make something kind of modular so if its just two of going and we are camping maybe make it into a bed and tent thing thats much later I am just wanting to know everyones opinions on the trailers or if there is a better option somewhere else.
There are most certainly better options out there, but not for the same or even near the same price new, most of these cheap imports are made by the same company so if you find one locally at say a fleet farm store, it might very well be the same thing... Most people that actually use the HF fold up trailers regularly end up drilling and bolting (or welding) the thing into a non-fold up trailer to gain overall integrity... Also as you said repack the bearings and every time you use it with the HF tires verify they are fully inflated near the max pressure especially for long hauls...

I did a ton of research on them and even spend many a day going over the one on display at the local HF, but for my need I eventually decided I needed something a little more substantial and didn't get it...

If you don't need 'new' and since you are only need a light weight trailer you can generally find low cost single axle used boat trailers on Craigslist for cheap, and they generally have better axles, better bearings, higher rated tire size and a stiffer welded together frame...

I will keep my eye out for boat trailers but it seems like Oklahoma cherish their boat trailers. The cheapest i have found near me right now is 175 and the fold-able one from HF would be like 210 with the 25% coupon. I would estimate it would be the about the same in materials to get it made up how I need. So a savings of 35 bucks and like i said its only for making a 140 mile round trip once a week for the summer. I also like the idea that I can convert it it to haul things nothing major but all I have is an SUV and a vette so there are a lot of things I can not haul like engines and transmissions or rock and dirt.

Also has anyone owned both the fold-able one and the none fold-able 1800 pound one they look almost identical besides the fold-able latch in the middle is that true or is the metal heavier gauge or what?

Also what trailer did you end up going with and from where?

I ended up getting several actually... Initially I picked up a vintage 2 place snowmobile trailer, all steel but super light weight, the guy said no one wanted it because it wasn't wide enough for two 'newer' snowmobiles... Got it for $100, it's probably no more substantial then the HF one, but it's wider and had steel decking... Soon after I picked up a free basket case pop-up camper, scrapped the aluminum off it, sold the heater, sink, stove, and water tanks ended up over $200 in the positive that I used to covert it over to a decent 10 foot long, 7 foot wide flat bed...

Ironically I was in the same exact situation, I live on a hobby farm and need to haul things like hay, straw and wood chips, as well as moving waste around on a regular basis, my Vette and the Hummer H2 just wasn't up to the task so I got the trailers... But, as of late, I'm really considering getting a junker pickup to use around the property and for quick local trips, I find hooking up and dealing with the trailer a hassle sometimes...

Yeah i have been looking for an old s-10 pickup 4x4 either they are complete junk or someone still wants a fortune for it since they think they get great gas mileage which they don't lol my suv is a 4x4 91 s-10 blazer my vette is a 77 and i have seen they actually made a trailer hitch for the vette and if i can keep the yak hauler light enough i would love to drive to the river with T-tops off in the vette. no chance of snowmobile trailer here lol but i will keep my eye out for jetski and boat trailers

Maybe someone can shed some insight before I head to the store. The 20 & 25% off coupons state:

Quote :
*Cannot be used with other discount, coupon, gift cards, Inside Track Membership, extended service plans or on any of the following:...
I may be reading this wrong, but does this mean you cannot use the 20-25% off coupon and pay for your your purchase with a gift card?

The wording is awkward and I would assume it means you cannot use the 20-25% off coupon for a discount on purchasing a gift card.

Thanks for any input!

You can pay for the purchase with a gift card, you cannot purchase a gift card with the 25%.

That is what I assumed but again the wording seems off. Thanks for the input.

Note don't use the the blue/red/white 25% (3-31-15) on the first page that keeps reappearing is a poorly composed Photoshop counterfeit, the barcode is bunk as it's not spaced properly to scan... You can clearly see that the barcode was simply lifted from the black/red/white 25% off complete with the customer number still embeded, it was poorly cleaned up (thus the improper spacing) and than Photoshoped onto that counterfeit...
