Can you elaborate at all? I honestly know a little about GZ and nothing about Kodiak. Kodiak's equivalent on their site is like $1500 bucks.

I got the Goal Zero 1400 Lithium over Christmas when it was on sale and I am very impressed with its output. This one is even cheaper per watt but the main reason I didn't consider it was that I had a specific need for 1500w continuous output the 1400 had. Having said that, this is an excellent deal for what it is and in a great looking package. However their solar panels are quite pricey per watt.

I'm not sure if it fits this model, but I added the mppt module and it really increased the speed of charging with AC and solar by about 20%. I highly recommend that if it's made for the 1000.


Edit: looking at the specs, this one may have that same 1500w output that the 1400 has. Very nice! I don't see the USB-C outputs but that's an easy fix

i'm in a house with well/septic, not sure of the exact specs on the pump but it is on a 220 (double) breaker (2 X 20amp) - anyone know if I would be able to rig this to run my pump in an extended power outage situation?

I have never seen something like this before, can someone give me some use cases for this? Seems like it would be good for a base camp if you buy the solar panels but lugging a 42lb battery to a base camp wouldn't be fun.

I'm thinking about getting one for emergencies when the power gets knocked out for a couple of days. It seems like it can be left plugged in and I won't have to deal with the hassle that comes with maintaining a gas/propane generator.

nvm, just read reviews on Costco. Looks like there is a lot of use cases and some people use them in place of a generator.

Some folks use them full time with solar panels and never have to pay for power.

You need to find voltage.

Watts = Amps x Volt
Watt Hours = Watts x Hours

You could use this for your sump pump, but for how long depends.

And IF you use DeWalt battery powered portable tools, Flexvolt or 20Vmax, look at the DEWALT DCB1800B FLEXVOLT Portable Power Station. It takes 4 of the DeWalt batteries and can put out up to 1800 W/15 amps @120 (no 240V). It goes on sale often for about $200 bare.

Could this be plugged in and have a sewage pump plugged in all the time? Meaning, automatically have the pump run off battery during a power outage, but not ruin the battery from 95% of time we have power? Or would it be better to manually have to plug into it when the outage happens?

Can it power sump pumps, etc.? How reliable versus this? What would be the total cost with 4 batteries?

Apparently it has a ~ 1kWh battery (~11VDC) that is rated for 1.5 kW @ 120VAC (12.5 amps implied total). It is *not* chainable and does *not* support 240VAC.

To put that in perspective, a typical 12VDC car battery is about 40-50 Ah, so say about 0.5 - 0.6 kWh. So basically this unit has the battery capacity of roughly 2 average car batteries, in a nifty box with some USB (and 12VDC) ports, and an AC inverter. Looks like one could put together something similar for the price of 2 car batteries (maybe $120 total), a cooler/box (container) and an inverter (about $90 which typically includes multiple 120VAC outlets and USB).

For another couple hundred $$ you could upgrade the inverter to support 240VAC but of course the current would take a hit (1/2).
