Total Wireless/TracFone/Simple Mobile: Buy Prepaid Airtime, Get Phone Expired

To summarize
1) You cannot hard unlock these phones except by using them for 12 months on the carrier.
2) You can soft unlock using RSIM 13. It works.
3) Once soft unlocked, the phones can then be used on T-Mobile, AT&T and Verizon, but not Sprint. Just insert your SIM (after soft unlocking) and you're done.
4) For Verizon, you MUST provision your SIM card in another phone that works on the Verizon network (not a RSIM unlocked phone) before you can use it in an RSIM-unlocked iPhone.
5) T-Mobile and AT&T Sims do not have any limitations. Just RSIM unlock and insert your SIM.
6) If you reset your phone, the soft unlock goes away, but can be reinstated using the RSIM13 card again.
7) There is no guarantee that Apple won't find a way to kill the RSIM unlocking loophole, but as of the latest iOS today (12.1.4) it works fine on every version of iOS and every iPhone model, 5 and newer. Most likely if Apple does close the loophole, any iPhone already soft unlocked will remain soft unlocked until/unless you take an OS update or do a phone reset.
8) If you can follow directions, unlocking with the RSIM13 card takes under 5 minutes.
9) You only need one RSIM-13 card. A single card can unlock an unlimited number of phones.
10) I bought my RSIM-13 card from these guys. Note: I am ambivalent about recommending them, because they claim to ship from Texas, but actually ship from China. It will take 7-10 days to arrive, even if you live next door to them. That said, the card worked fine and the price is decent. As far as I can tell, all the RSIM-13 cards on eBay are shipping from China, no matter what it says in the listing. It's annoying.

The problem is on user.

So first off let me start by saying it MUST be RSIM13. RSIM13 is a SIM card which basically changes the iccd of the device, You start the unlock by inserting the RSIM13 into the phone and it'll automatically kick you into the activation screen. Once in the activation screen, the phone will try to activate and fail. You must then click the home button and click emergency call. Once in emergency call you dial *5005*7672*00# after that it will ask you to input the ICCID which can easily be found on the website rsim5. After you input the ICCID the activation should go through and "activate" your iPhone. You then take your RSIM13 SIM card out and input any sim desired. Hope this helps.
