Notable features of both of these blenders include the ability to make hot soup without a stove, create chilled desserts, grind nuts, coffee and mix batters and dough. Afterwards, just add a drop of dish soap and warm water, your Vitamix machine can clean itself in 30 to 60 seconds.

I had a Ninja 1000. I did what was done in the commerical. I tried to make ice into snow -- the ice beat the blades so badly, I had to ask them to send me a new one. There were actual chips in the blades. I didn't even bother to use it after. I warrantied it with my AMEX and discarded the item.
Then I was working for Best Buy and I got an accommodation for a Vitamix Ascent 2500. Bruh. NIGHT AND DAY. (I'm not trying to be a shill, and no one is paying me, but I'll rep Vitamix to death b/c that shit changed my life.)
The Vitamix made ice cream (sherbet?) from a batch from frozen cherries like it was nothing. No chips in the blades either. It could turn granulated sugar into confectioners sugar meaning I'd never have to buy the stuff again. And the stuff from the store comes with cornstarch in it.
The Vitamix made all of those nasty vegetables taste like candy. Now I actually get fruits and vegetables in my diet b/c they aren't so damn gross now.
Most of the time I'm on this site I don't really know what I'm looking for. I had no intention of buying a blender today but in for one. I'm going to try and blend my old ninja.
Green Protein smoothies! I have a blendtec & gifted one to my parents. & my older sister had a blendtec. She just bought a Vitamix when her blendtec died. I sent it in for warranty work/replacement yesterday. I don't have her opinion vs. the two yet.
For all you people that say you can get a $50 ninja that's just as good as vitamix/blendtec. Ninja = CHUNKY. If you haven't used a high end blender, how can you compare the two?

That last paragraph is the truth. Have some rep.

The Explorian looks like a great deal but it is worth mentioning that it comes with a 90 day warranty while refurbs from Vitamix generally come with a 3 year warranty standard.
Anybody have a thought about warranty? On amazon the explorian is 90 day, on Vitamix 3 years. But it's $150 vs $299... thoughts comments?
that gave me pause too, but if you click on the show more button for the list of features, it says: "3 - year full warranty covers parts, labor, and return shipping both ways." I think they'd be bound by that. From what I hear, Vitamix is incredibly good about returns, repairs, etc.

I just looked through it and saw that it says 90 day first and then 3 years in the description further down. I'm not sure what to believe. I'm on my way into work at the moment or I'd chat with a rep for clarification. If someone else doesn't do it, I'll try to do it once I get settled in or during lunch.

Maybe it depends on the model, but my reconditioned Vitamix came with a 5 year warranty. I could've paid an extra $70 for another 2-3 years

This. And for any doubters, it's not exactly difficult to watch Youtube comparison videos to see exactly what the difference is. Ninja is fine for some things, but for others, especially turning fibrous veggies into liquid, you need something better.
This isn't refurbed by Vitamix, it's refurbed by Amazon (or rather, an approved vendor of Amazon). They say it will look and function as new, but Amazon can't even always manage to send me new products that function and look as new. With that 90 day warranty, I wouldn't trust it, even for $150.
Edit - Based off of people chatting with Amazon it appears my judgement on this was wrong. They should fix their own description if that's the case. It clearly says that Amazon is the refurbisher and that it's a 90 day warranty. If that's not true, they're wasting their own customer service peoples' time and hurting sales.

Seems they're basically identical in capability.
