College schedule question for the toddlers, I mean younger people here

41,172 2,080 March 13, 2019 at 10:47 AM
Maybe it's a dumb question, but is the typical 3 credit hour class schedule still like it was ~35 years ago when I went to college? As in, ~1 hour class Monday/Wednesday/Friday, or ~1.5 hour class Tuesday/Thursday? I've never had a need to find out if things still work this way Big Grin

On a related not, it's almost freakout time for emelvee...our daughter is likely heading off for college in the fall. She wasn't even in kindergarten when I joined SD Embarrassment

How old are you? Confused

I've been out of college now for... 15ish years now and even then, between online and evening classes my schedule was all over the place. A 3 credit class could be 3 days or just 1.

I got stuck with a Friday evening class once, 6-9pm, that I was really upset about but needed the class. Turned out to be great because no one (including the prof) wanted to be there, so we were usually out by 8pm or earlier.

I actually got introduced to SD by a college teacher. Don't remember how it came up, but it's not the most useless thing I learned in college by a long shot.

I think most classes are still like that, but a lot of my at classes were much longer, if they were studio classes. Tuesday/Thursday classes might be 2 1/2 or 3 hours. I think some other lab classes were like that as well. Depends on what her major is. And I can't believe she's old enough for college! I remember when middle school issues were the thing! laugh out loud Didn't you try keeping a brick on her head?

college already? Faint

official answer? "it depends" Whee

it should be easy enough to look up current meeting times (SP 2019) for courses she might be interested in taking at her school(s) of interest, however

Why do the work when I have the Lounge to give me questionable information, which is more fun?

Cool idea for a picture by the way. Having her pose with your old college transportation just as she is about to head off to college.

About 85% of my degree was completed with distance/online classes. That was when VCR's were still in use. My science classes had to be done in person. Mad

Think of how much money everyone would save moving high end colleges to fully online courses. But then they wouldn't have $6 million a year to pay their football coaches. Cool
