and i'm a little hesitant because i'm not sure if you are trolling or not because in another MP thread, you stated "Only thing I'll buy from My Protein is their creatine monohydrate, everything else is trash"...and you say you buy MP isolate unflavored yet just two days ago, you post "Has anyone had Unflavored? I'm looking to get that, the most protein possible" in a MP isolate thread. so in two days you received your unflavored isolate and became an expert AND a fanboy of MP?
a waste of time but i'll bite in hopes to clear up some misconceptions to others....
-yes, isolate (~90% protein) has more than concentrate (~80%). but that is just about the only advantage it has. unless you have issues with lactose or can't handle the extra gram or two of fat/carb content in your macro, whey concentrate is not only more affordable, but being less denatured, it maintains/preserves more biological activities and health promoting subfractions such as immunoglobulins, glycomacropeptides, bovine serum albumin, lactoferrin, etc. i'll take a gentle ceramic filtered whey concentrate over ion exchanged or even hydrolyzed (low % hydrolysis) whey isolate anyday...
-perhaps a lesser known/one-and-done/shady brands will deceive customers by using lower grade WPC that is less than 80%, but accusing ON (glanbia) without any basis is absurd. ON (gold standard and their other proteins) uses avonlac 180 WPC80 for their concentrates.
-labdoor is as joke. Case in point <<<
-taste is subjective and not an indicator of "quality". i hear pretty much equal amount of ON taste better than MP or MP taste better than ON. honestly, they are both pretty mediocre in their flavoring department...
-also, artificial sweeteners are also subjective. some people think it's the antichrist while others are absolutely fine with it. if you look at labdoor's top ranked proteins, they are for unflavored. so them being not penalized for absence of sweeteners (receiving higher score in their subjective "ingredient safety") is not fair to other proteins that don't offer unflavored. i'm sure most people order MP protein with flavors and according to labdoor's algorithm, the flavored version should have lower ranking/scores due to the inclusion of artificial sweeteners, but they conveniently ignore that. one of their top ranked proteins "integrated supplements whey isolate unflavored" proudly uses provon whey. guess who supplies that? ON/glanbia.
-all whey proteins have similar amount of bound BCAA (unless free form has been added). some brands like to advertise it, some don't. don't see a big deal. and i'm not sure where you get the info that ON has only 2.9g of advertised 5.5...
-i had this debate with another poster about the sourcing of MP. ON is sourced from its parent company glanbia (arguably the most respected dairy giant in the US...but based in ireland). i've heard from numerous owners (who compete directly with ON protein) who has nothing but praise for glanbia and their quality control. MP (at least in the europe market) uses sachsenmilch, a german dairy company. but in my view, it makes no financial sense for MP USA to import whey all the way from sachsenmilch/germany. it makes more sense to use domestic ingredients from either glanbia, davisco, fonterra, etc. a member from another forum who works at Alibaba/Aliexpress stated that MP purchases their protein from china. nothing wrong with it, but it may sway some consumers...i've contacted MP regarding their sourcing in the past, but have not had luck getting a straight answer. if they are indeed sourcing from sachsenmilch, wouldn't they be more inclined to proudly say it? and while some parts of europe (and other countries like japan, canada, new zealand) have higher dairy standards, what makes you think MP protein is from grass fed cows and not grain fed?
this infamous reddit protein test has been debunked. not sure why people still bring it up. just ignore it...
Is it higher because the grams of protein per scoop is better?
Is it higher because you believe isolate is better than a combination of concentrate & isolate?
Is it higher because some web site called lab door claimed to do a scientifically repeatable measurement?
Is it higher because one is better tasting?
Is it higher because one is better mixing?
Is it higher because one doesnt contain a certain ingredient you don't like?
Just curious.
