Grabbed one of these at Walmart today. Seemed like a pretty good deal. Website shows availability at several stores around me. Some stores as low as $.75. In store only. YMMV
Can be found with the automotive accessories or clearance aisle.
When I looked at Brickseek this morning, the price was $5 with 3 in stock at my closest store. I happened to be at that store this afternoon and checked Brickseek again on my phone, and the price had dropped to $2.50! So I hunted them down in the store bought all 3 for $7.50 total+tax!
I did notice that the price is $1 each at another store that's about 45 minutes away, so anyone that's halfway interested might want to check their closest stores on Brickseek.
But when you select on their website with store pick up, it does not show that price. I wonder if I go there and scan for price shown on the price, just wastage of time. Can we show them this site as reference??
Lol, do not show brickseek as a reference, it says specifically on brickseek it is not affiliated with Walmart. You'd have better luck bringing in a note from your mom with the price she expects them to offer you. But, whatever brickseek says the local store price is, is almost 100% correct, however the available quantity is almost 100% wrong.
Just went and grabbed 3, super deal. BS said they were 4 in the store and they were $5, Walmart inventory said only 4 also, none were in the area they said they would be in the auto section, asked one of the guys where they were, said your system said they are here, he said "there are none, I know there are none." Went all over, then went down the clearance aisle he was working, searched a little harder and found a rack with about 10 of them, scanned them and they were $2.50. Considered being one of those jerks that bought them all but didn't. These are nice, they actually have a numerical LED reading for how much battery is left.
How many do I need to build a battery for an electric car?
I know you're joking, but I was kind of curious so I did some calculations.
Each one of these is 5000 mAh -> 5 Ah.
Typical voltage on these types of battery banks seems to be 3.7 V, so 5 Ah * 3.7 V = 18.5 Wh each battery.
A Tesla 100D has a 100 kWh battery, so it would take about 5400 of these to have a similar capacity. (100,000/18.5) This ignores any power loss due to voltage conversions, etc.
If you bought these to make an extended range electric car battery, you'd be spending $27,000 + tax in battery banks!
If these can output 2 amps each, then you would be able to output 5400 * 2 amp * 5V = 54,000 watts, which is only about 73 horsepower!
