Still haven't gotten the $150 Slickdeals rebate from the AMEX card deal from a month back...
Vanguard money market is about 2.49% or so currently. Places like Cit bank is around 2.45%. Other places have 2.3-2.4%ish accounts. Purepoint has a no-penalty CD at 2.6%

But with 20K to play with, you may be better off doing the bank bonus game -- Discover/Capital One/HSBC checking/Citi and so on.
I checked our system and your approval is showing up on 3/8. You should receive payment by early next week.

So I opened this account back in first week of April, was approved instantly and funded the account. Filled out the Slickdeals rebate form right away. Have not gotten any confirmation as of yet.
Also, Please beware that i deposited initial $500, that hit the new HSBC account on April 5th, now I was given the interest after almost an entire month. It was a whopping 65 cents..... yep...65 cents from April 5th to April 30th...... don't know what to do.... not a very pleasant experience. 💩💩

How much interest were you expecting?

When I opened the account back in April due to Slickdeals deal, it was 2.25% at the time. I chatted with the bank rep, she said that it was 2.25% but also in fine prints it was stated that it was subject to change without notice and I think they ONLY changed mine🤔💩💩💩💩💩
2.25% APY. That means after a year, including compound interest, you would earn $11.25 on that $500. Your first month has no interest to compound, so use the APR ~ 2.22%. And you only had money there for approximately 24 days. 500*.0222*24/365 = 72 cents. There is some error in this calculation and it's off from what you received by only 4 cents.

You don't get it? Lets see, $1.00 in your account will earn 2.36 percent, just over 2 cents. $1 in this account will earn 12,502.33 percent, just over $125.02. Not big enough numbers? How about this, $100,000 in Citi will make you $2360. In this account, you will end up with $2375. (After 1 year).
Wow, apparently the interest rate is based on your state for some reason. If I select my state, the rate is a horrendous .04% APR. If I select one like WA, it's 2.36%.

Seems lots of people new to the banking world in this thread, lol.
It's really eye-opening. Now, I can see why we have a student loan crisis.

I'll get thumbed down and maybe banned, but it's true. I'm sorry.

People.. we need to wait until June to see if the bonus comes or not. That's when we can start complaining.
HSBC is not doing any different than other respectable banks. They are not ripping anyone off.

I just applied and it is under review. I have a credit card with HSBC. This would be much higher than my current savings APY.

No bank offers fixed rates. You would need to open a CD to get a fixed rate over the term of the CD. Off course there would be penalties for withdrawing the money then.
If you bought a CD, you wouldn't withdraw it until it was mature...
