In before people start bitching about HDMI board issues that were resolved 5 years ago
yea I was one affected back then and they repaired it for free even when I was out of warranty. They been no known reports for years now and I love Onkyo receivers, first brand I owned and been rock solid
Hard to beat this receiver at this price though for 9 channels. It's not just a cheap 9 channel either, it's built up a bit. Can even do 11.2 via pre-outs. This thing weighs a whopping 31 pounds too.
Good price on an amazing reciever. My 6 year old Onkyo is still going strong and they replaced mine free of charge when I had a problem.
Honestly cant beat their customer service and they make solid and high quality receivers for the money. If your on the fence and need a 4k reciever you should seriously look at this one. I would put it up against any top brand even those at a higher price point.
Not trying to Jack this thread but my Onkyo 626 just crapped out on my last week. Can anyone recommend something around the 300-350 range? Currently have 5.2 speakers.
I have always used Onkyo and wanted to try another brand but not sure. Any help is appreciated!
In the market for a nice 9.2 receiver since I'm building out a 5.2.4 setup in my basement. Already have the speakers, just waiting on a receiver. Was really leaning Denon or Yamaha, but this is definitely better priced. Makes me wonder about quality though since Onkyo is so much cheaper. Don't know if I should pull the trigger or wait. I hear a lot of horror stories about Onkyo.
I'm been looking to replace my old Marantz 5.1 unit.
I don't need 9.2 so I am leaning towards the AVR-X3500H but this has Sonos which I could actually use. Everything seems about a toss up between the two other than the extra channels and a little more power.

If you only need 5.2.4 why not go with the 630 instead? I don't know what their price is now. I bought a couple for $339 or so a couple of weeks ago. This 830 has preouts if you are looking for that, (which I might need for some 4 ohm speakers I have right now). I suppose I might want to try 7.2.4 would be another reason to get this one. 830 probably has bigger amps as well, aluminum front and maybe somewhat enhanced equalizer as I recall.

This receiver also supports eARC while the 630 doesn't.
