can the light dim with a wall dimmer or does that require the remote? can the fan be controlled with a wall switch?

Yuck!. It makes me think that those blades were made out of some pressed cardboard.

Looks like the costco site took this down? Does anyone know if they are still available in store?

It's still available online. Once you select the color it will allow you to add to cart.

Available in store too

The page doesn't work for me anymore.. I had it added to cart a few days but now when I try to checkout or refresh it says out of stock or unavailable. The page link doesn't work anymore either. Is it gone? I guess I'll have to check in store.

This fan is rated for large rooms (20x20), can I use them in smaller rooms (12x12 and 12x14)? Any idea on what the downside may be? The fan itself doesn't look too large, so it won't look out of place in these rooms lookswise I'd think.

I have one in a 10x13 room and it works great. I think you'll only have a problem with too much wind if you turn it on high.

I don't know anything about fans, but basic physics suggests you might have to run it at less than maximum speed... since its rated for to circulating air in a much bigger box.
