I use to think these Aeron chairs were expensive but ever since I purchased one over 10 years ago. I have learned to appreciate it. It's still as comfortable and firm as I first got them. And all the mechanics on them work flawlessly. Also if you check on Craigslist, you would know the resale vale on them is a little more than half the price. So it holds it's value well and you have a fantastic chair.

i had an aeron for years. did a lot of reading before i bought it, and i think they suck. i kept waiting for it to get really comfortable. i started having a sore back, so i finally sold it. put it on craig's list, and i got like 6 calls in a couple hours. i guess others out there also think this is a good chair. i dont. now i have a padded chair from the depot, and no more sore back
Did you adjust it properly?

I had an Aeron at a previous employer. By far the best chair I had ever used. Left to start my own thing and getting an Aeron was one of the first investments I made in myself. Everybody in my organization gets one now.

Thanks OP!

First off, a question:

I got an alert for a deal from smartfurniture.com [smartfurniture.com], that's since been removed (I actually thought I was responding to that thread originally!). Can the mods or someone otherwise say what was wrong with that deal? That company looks legit, has a no-questions-asked return policy (important for something you'll own for 10+ years) and seemingly competitive pricing?

They list $782 for the Aeron, but I assume there was a coupon or something on top of that (I only have the email alert, the thread with more info/codes is gone =[)

So if anyone wants to shed some light on that, that would be great.

Secondly, I'm sure you could go down a huge rabbit hole of office chair reviews, etc., but trusty wirecutter covers them nicely here: https://thewirecutter.com/reviews...ice-chair/

I'm looking to pull the trigger, but may need the Sayl, because I live in a non-AC part of SoCal (although I'm over 6'4", so maybe that's not the best move...sigh.)

I love my 10 year old Aeron. I have yet to find a chair i like more and i have gone through many many offices with all kinds of chairs. The first time i tried an Aeron it went.....

"ooh, what kind of chair is this"

Response "Some chair HR got me because i kept having back problems, i guess it was expensive"

I went and got one and have recommended it to anyone that wants a new chair that understands you get what you pay for most of the time (this is slickdeals so I also try to get things for way less as often as possible). Get the large version, Add on a headrest and make sure it has adjustable arms heights. Enjoy your chair. I put about 3000 hours a year in my chair at 10 years...i replaced a bolt so far and at some point i will have to replace the seat fabric...it is slowly wearing, probably within 4 years i will have to replace the fabric...which is a hack...or buy a new seat, which is the formal way.

Which one of these are the best? We have the aeron at the office and they are pretty good. Any of the other ones better than the aeron?

Need to invest on one for home use
We have the Embody at work. They are fairly nice. They are used 24/7 and are now roughly 8 years old. Still holding up although the armrests are starting to show wear. I personally have the Celle chairs at home. Those are my favorite. They don't look comfortable at all with a plastic back but they are actually very comfortable. You can find them for less than $400. I personally hate the Aeron chair. If you have a Herman Miller retailer near you then I would try before you buy.

I purchased the Embody chair brand new and it was a really awesome chair for home use. Unfortunately a few months later, I had to move from the coast to coast and the damn chair was too big for my hatchback, so I had to toss it into the dumpster. I really miss that chair. Do get the Embody because it feels like you're sitting on a cloud. Thumbs up for the Embody.
Why would you throw away a $1400 chair instead of selling it...

Buying two Embody chairs one for the office and one for home has been one of my greatest investments. Going on 7 years still in the same condition and my back much better. Crazy good build quality. When buying new this sale twice a year is all you get.

I have the Embody at work and absolutely love it. Previously had Aeron. Embody is way more comfortable.

If you live in a high sales tax state, https://www.smartfurniture.com/ is a better deal than https://www.officedesigns.com. No tax, you'll also get store credit back for leaving a review on service and product as well for future purchases.

Prices are the same as far as I can tell.
Good Catch, use promo FLY5 to match the extra 5% off.

This is the deal I mentioned below! Why was it removed? As someone who lives in CA, no tax, 45 day return policy -- including return shipping -- and 5% off seems like the better deal. Am I missing something here?

I previously ordered from smartfurniture.com, absolutely no problems with them - hence I posted earlier in this thread about them.

The $782 for Aeron is in-stock chairs, but you can go to Customize It and configure a bare bones chair - lead time is a few weeks.

that site is authorized
https://www.hermanmiller.com/wher...op-online/
but they don't get the additional 5% off but another SD poster on this thread said they don't charge tax so it might be the better deal

Is there a reason to buy new as opposed to picking up a used one off of Craigslist at half the price?
