"8 Channel DVR" .. I'm not a big fan of coax based systems for new installs.
Much of the work for a new install is the cabling job and proper placement, and I think the future options are better with IP PoE systems and Cat6

FYI - if you're in need of low light performance, expect to pay significantly more than what you were looking at.

Could you give an example of what should one expect to pay for low light performance?
ipcamtalk has numerous examples and reviews by members on various models of cameras for low light conditions. In particular look for the Dahua OEM 2MP starlight models.
Definitely Dahua OEM - notice the terms ePOE and IVS in addition to the look of the case.
Not certain which exact models.
The international OEM models numbers which should be similar start with:
IPC-HDW46xx - for the turret 6MP
IPC-HDW48xx - for the turret 8MP
The 6MP has a
1/2.5" progressive scan STARVIS™ CMOS
as does the 8MP
1/2.5" progressive scan STARVIS™ CMOS
Thus - the 6MP should do better in low light compared to the 8MP as the pixels will be larger ( of course, need to look at other specs like f-stop, but as a general rule just comparing the imaging chip and assuming all else is close )
note: LaView also lists a 5MP dome and bullet camera in the saturn line up, however I did not see "STARVIS" as the chip family - so not certain about this. Some of the recent 5MP Dahua OEM cameras with STARVIS chips fall between the 2MP starlights and 8MP cameras in performance in low light.
update:
Chinese vendors are selling 8MP Dahua OEM turrets for $140-190 online.
Depends.. Q-see has used products from numerous OEMs.
IF the Q-see NVR is a Dahua OEM one - then yes. ( note that you may need to sync IP, port, user/password.. )
if a non-Dahua OEM - you have to check ONVIF spec support on the NVR, and if it supports ONVIF you can get at least basic recording / functionality to work
