"de direct"? I could care less about spelling on the internet but your post struck me as odd, given your critique of someone who took the time out of their day to answer a question that could have just as easily have been googled. I'm mean if you're going to start giving people a hard time make sure you are on top of your own posts..

I was telling you about my experience of bucket vs shelf. I don't know if the one you are referring to but am guessing you know if it's a bucket or shelf are, making my reply useful.

In my experience, only the top food browns. So the ones with shelves work a ton better than the bucket style.

I have it. Make sure you take out the stuff inside the fryer before doing some "dry runs" to get rid of any smells. Otherwise you'll incinerate it lol

It has been excellent for reheating food, even fried foods like chicken strips. Haven't put anything uncooked in it yet. unsure if I want to try

Can I assume any food that requires a "Deep Frying (by oil)" can be Air Fried?
Or only some food like French Fry qualifies the Air Frying?

Thanks!

Any food other than those with drippy batter is fine. To crisp/brown the food, spray/coat it with some oil before air frying.

Do the much more expensive Philips Air Fryers have any advantage over these cheap clones? Or are they now just considered ovepriced original innovators?

I've been following the air fryer threads for a few weeks and this is a great deal at this price. The only negative is the peeling of the basket and plastic smell initially.

Wish they discount the 6L version too. Good deal.

Yes or No would have helped.

I have a non-digital Gourmia with this basket style. The bottom part the food sits on is removable and has 4 little silicone? nubs that hold it in place. If one of the little nubs were to get lost the air fryer basket would get scratched by the metal it covers and it wouldn't stay in place. Right after I opened it I realized this and regretted not getting the type of airfryer with the inner removable basket. Also, the non-stick coating on the part the food sits on started coming off. For this reason I would spray a little oil on the food you prepare.

I found this awesome deal last week and it took the place of my Gourmia. https://slickdeals.net/f/13050451-gowise-usa-1700-watt-8-in-1-digital-air-fryer-5-8-quart-33-70-prime-members-fs?v=1&src=SiteSearch

That other one also has people saying the non-stick peeling off after a few months. I guess that's part of the compromise of the cheaper air-fryers.

That's true. Hopefully using a tiny bit of oil will help. It seemed to help with the tofu I air fried last night.

The reason these non-stick coating falls off is due to speed of mass production and keeping cost down. These cooking baskets are coated with one layer of teflon rather than three coats. Also, nonstick may present a health risk if significantly heated to 570 degrees and vapors are inhaled. If you're worried about the flaking. You could scrub off the flaking Teflon with Brillo and use one of those waxed liners on the bottom.

That said, I went to my local Costco today and they didn't have any in stock. Ordered one online and paid extra $5 instead. I decided on this one due to Costco ease of return if the larger 6L becomes available.
