This is correct. Tracfone is only for light users. With Google Hangouts and WiFi, one can still can get a lot done with this plan.

All depends on your usage. personally I use most of my data on wifi so I would rather have 3 GB to use over a year instead of 250 mb a month where I might only use 100 mb one month and the next I need 1 GB for traveling.

all depends on where you live, in Eastern Oregon I can use either AT&T or Verizon & recently found out T-Mo works here as well.
Thanks Bellingham WA

I would think you'd have good service from all 3, what do most of your friends/neighbors use? Really doesn't matter though, you're not locked in to a specific network, can always get a $1 TF sim kit and swap to another Tracfone carrier. I swapped a sim using TF Verizon to a sim using Tracfone AT&T - as long as you have an unlocked phone capable of working with all networks it's pretty simple. You're really only limited by the phone.

That's a pretty old Tracfone (android 5?), might be time for an upgrade. Searching shows it came in both Verizon & AT&T version, check the model number of phone & search, should be able to get the answer.
Tracfone seems to be selling this for BYOP devices.
Will the allow you to activate it to put into a TF branded phone?
They would not know if they do not ask for the phone`s IMEI.
Verizon requires that Tracfone asks.

Sounds like you did not handle it well on your end. You made a mistake my not calling corporate in Miami. At corp level, things get done quickly and have bonused people for a c/s mistake. If you have a screen shot of your minutes, you are good.

True, a TF AT&T/T-Mo sim would work in any unlocked phone - doesn't ask for IMEI (I've swapped my AT&T sim in & out of several phones without doing anything including locked TF Fiesta 2 that uses gsm.).

I've also got an old Tracfone Verizon sim (from a locked TF branded phone) & found it works in either of my unlocked all network phones without entering new IMEI, it shouldn't work but it does - & has for 6 months.

When they say carrier they mean Verizon or AT&T or T-Mobile.
I do not remember which the Treasure uses. If you ask for the wrong carrier, your screwed.
So how can I find out which carrier my LG Treasure uses?

I already answered you, search for the model number on Google (find under phone settings), will say either Tracfone GSM (AT&T) or Tracfone CDMA (Verizon)

Will this SIM work in a phone that's never been activated but locked to Total Wireless?

I just picked up a reconditioned iPhone SE locked to Total Wireless on another deal. It's being shipped.

Was going to use it as an iPod via wi-fi only. But I think these related companies can use each other's SIMs.

Would prolly be worth $50 to have a backup phone for a year.

I'd look around for either a newer GSM Tracfone or better yet, an unlocked phone that works on all networks. You"ll be amazed at how much better the display will be & how fast a newer phone is, yours is pretty old & out of date.

LOL..so you are the proxy?

Since you (and apparently the other person) are not up to speed: arguing with TF c/s reps can be futile. The (mostly) only way to get minute the minutes back is to call corp office and in a calm voice explain what happened. They will look up your account and reissue. This method has been around for a long time and works well. C/s reps are a waste of time. There is nothing to warn anyone about TF, especially since many here (self included) have used them for years.
