Saw a new sign at Walmart that looks pretty interesting. There's no dates on it, and I can't find any info on the deal anywhere which tells me that someone probably screwed up and put the sign out too soon....but anyway.

Seems like a pretty good deal for AT&T network:

$50/mo. but $40 with autopay:
- UNL Talk & Text
- 25GB High Speed Data then 2G
- Hotspot included
- Mexico and Canada roaming included

2 lines would be $70, 3 lines would be $100, 4 lines would be $120, and 5 lines would be $140.

Looks like this deal is only at Walmart - everywhere else has 16GB data offer and it requires autopay. This offer looks like it doesn't require auto-pay.

So would this work..

1. I bought the cingulair flip 2 (arrives today) from Walmart.com and the Speedtalk sim from Amazon (also arrives today)
2. I will port my # from Cricket to speedtalk and then call AT&T Porting to port from Speedtalk to AT&T Prepaid (should i do it this way or should i do a temp # and then port on top of that.. that way seems risky/messy)??
3. Do i need to purchase service card from Walmart or can I purchase it while I am doing the port

Jumping in myself. Bought 2 phones and activated. Will wait until I see bonus data. Then port my two AT&T postpaid numbers somewhere else (prob that TMo $5 from Best Buy), then port to AT&T prepaid replacing these two new numbers. Then use in my iPhones with fingers crossed.

1) Activate the flip phone. The link is on the first page of this thread. You'll fund the account then with either a credit card (required for autopay) or AT&T prepaid card. Make sure when you activate that you use the same zipcode as the number you'll be porting in later.

2) Wait the 5-10 days for the 17GB bonus to show up.

3) Port your Cricket number to Speedtalk at your leisure. Unless your Cricket is renewing you might as well wait until the bonus shows up, limited calling/texts/data is included in the Speedtalk kit ( assuming you bought the $9.95 kit and not just the $5 SIM).

4) Once the bonus shows up in the AT&T account you can port your number in through Speedtalk. The "Support" tab under your Speedtalk account has a link for "I want to change to a different carrier (port out)." When you click that you'll get a text immediately with the porting info (account #, PIN, zipcode). That's what you'll need to give to the AT&T porting center to bring your number over. They may make a call to that phone to verify service.

5) Once the number is ported you're good to go. If you signed up for Autopay originally you'll notice it's been turned off. You'll need to sign up for it again.

That should about cover it.

But what difference would it make if I port direct from Speed talk to at&t? Im afraid I will encounter issues with CS telling me that you can't port on top , etc

I don't get what you're trying to say. You have to port from Cricket to Speedtalk if you want to keep your Cricket phone number. If you don't care there's no need to port at all, just use the number you'll get when you activate the AT&T flip phone, and put that SIM into your current phone.

My question is why would I have to activate it initially with a temp #. Can't I just port to speedtalk and then at&t prepaid ? Without the need for initial activation with a different #

Did you call CS to get it fixed? Mine is up for renewal, hoping I don't have issues.

If you happen to live by Meijers, they're doing the buy one get one for 50% off deal again on At&t Prepaid cards. Looks like the $45.00 and $65.00 cards only. It makes this 25gb Wally plan $30.00 per month which seems like a pretty sweet deal.

As you might have seen, I followed those five steps as well, but the person who handled the port (step number 3) screwed something up, so the bonus data carry-over was lost. The people I spoke to last night didn't instill me with a lot of confidence, so I'm trying again, and am going to do what you suggest -- porting out, then activating over the phone and porting my number in at the same time.

I have already ported out of AT&T and over to T-Mobile. I will try to activate the AT&T phone and port back in tonight.

I did not know this... Is there a reason to or not to update the account with the current phone (non-Walmart) IMEI?
