I just recently bought a french door refrigerator from Costco during the Memorial Day sale and read they double the manufacturer's warranty for their members called Costco Concierge so that makes it 2 years from the manufacturer, if you pay with the Citi Costco Anywhere Visa card Citi will add 2 more years plus if you buy from Costco within 90 days of buying said appliances or qualifying electronics the Square Trade 3 year warranty (warranty cost tiered based on item price, I paid $99 for 3 years).
The way it was explained was Square Trade would start when the 2 year manufacturer warranty ends making it 5 years and then Citi 2 year warranty will start after Square Trade ends making it a total of 7 years.

So if you are a Costco member and were planning on buying a major electronic or appliance purchase in the near future figure this would be helpful if you didn't know about stacking the available warranties. I attached an image from Citi's explaining how their warranty stacks at the end.

I'd call Citi's warranty Dept to confirm this and then return the ST warranty.
EDIT: I'm wrong. I knew Citi's was as good as AMEX's, but really doubted that their extended warranty would start after an additionally purchased extended warranty.

here islink to Citi card's benefits brochure pdf, check page 22
[citi.com] that shows an example (#4) how it works with them. It did not specify Square Trade but "customer purchased extended warranty" so it could be any optional purchased extended warranty and they will stack after it expires.
For everyone else, start buying with the Costco Citi card. You won't regret it.

I was eyeing that fridge until I start reading all the problems with ice buildup, and the class action lawsuit in place.
One thing would be having an appliance go up/down every so often and delay in getting it fixed, but a fridge could easily cost you hundreds of dollars in food being wasted...
Nope.
Tons of folks get TVs cheaper elsewhere for example (OLEDs especially) then add the Square Trade warranty from Costco to it.
Only difference is you lose out on the 1 extra year from Costco- so "only" 6 total years of warranty instead of 7.

This above, if the compressor doesn't fail first.
I think the LG refrigerators may last longer - from the Korean brands. They use cheaper looking plastic though
US refrigerators /if work at first/ will probably last longer, although I am not sure what is left from US manufacturers. Maybe the highest end built in ? The fans inside the consumer grade ones are all Chinese, and they always fail prematurely taken the entire electronics and refrigerators with them...
Mine and my friends experiences so far....
