Clearance but out of stock for me. My local HR store does a good job of never having these desperation level sales. Lowe's not so much.

Back in the day, it was a term used to depict gas mileage "Your Mileage May Vary".
In this case, it should be "Your Results May Vary" But nobody says that.

PEX is convenient, but health concern after fire and impact to water supply system turned out to be a real problem in CA. So you may want to look into it further.

Bottom line...don't be concerned about pex, until your community catches fire. I'm good.

Wow that's crazy it affected not only houses with pex pipes that had burned but the entire system since the benzene leached back. Good to be aware, I would have thought it didn't affect those with regular pipes but it affects everyone.

It only leached back because the fire's impact on the infrastructure left them unable to maintain positive water pressure.

A lot of things have to go wrong to create such a problem and the vast majority of people/communities have absolutely nothing to worry about when using PEX. The health conscious and regulation happy Europeans have been successfully using it for many decades now.

I've done two homes' complete supply lines using PEX (5 and 10 years ago) without a single issue. If I was considering another replumb job, I'd buy a tool like this in a heartbeat compared to the manual crimper that I have been using. I really like the manifold system that allows for so much control in shutting off different lines. Much like an electric circuit breaker box, if you need to change out a fixture or valve, you can just shut off the bit that you are working on instead of the whole house.

Wow that is cool. How much more does adding a manifold add? Is it pretty standard now or a pricy upgrade? Regarding the benzene, for sure if your house or nearby houses burned down you have other things to worry about but still good to be aware, seems like simple brita water filters work well

For doing a whole house, the manifold system is pretty standard. I used manifolds with brass valves that cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $100 for a 10 branch manifold and each home needs many of them depending on the number of hot and cold fixtures in the house. One plus is that you can eliminate the shut valves and supply lines at the fixtures themselves (though I did put them on toilets) by running a continuous line of PEX from the manifold to the fixture. This not only saves some money, but eliminates possible leak prone junctions (though I've had zero leaks so far).

A possible downside of this is that everytime you turn on the hot water it has to go through that entire run of pipe, even if the fixtures are next to each other, like a shower and sink for ex. Depending on the size of your home that may be annoying.

If that is a concern in your home layout, you don't need all the manifolds in the same place, but can locate smaller ones closer to where multiple fixtures are. PEX allows for a lot of flexibility.
