Pulling an Oni, lol Update post #131 now

I have some sort of bite on my lower stomach...I noticed it this morning..it wasn't itchy or hurting so I went on with my day. (Which got worse after hearing about Bea Arthur but that's another thread). Anyway, I got home with my son from McDonalds and I noticed that part was hurting...not terribly bad..just annoying bad.

So of course around 8:00 I get itchy all over and get our son to bed (My son and I are on our own tonight). Then I get really dizzy and light headed and winded from just coming up a set of stairs. I'm out of shape but not That out of shape, lol.

So I go get in the bathtub thinking that might help with the itching on the rest of my body...had to lay down 3 times because I felt so sick. Then the area of my bite started hurting Really really badly. This is, of course, after all Dr's are closed. My fingers turned tingly and I thought I was going to throw up....which I did...and I'm not entirely sure I've ever felt that sick before throwing up in my life. I had been SO SO hot before that but then got the chills. Well...basically the same thing as the flu...those types of feelings.

So the spider bite hurts (And it's low enough on my stomach I wouldn't feel right posting a picture here)....it's kind of a little purple spot and it's whitish purple welt around it. I thought about going to the ER but damn it...I was just there a few weeks ago. With my husband out of a job and us not having insurance at the moment until Cobra gets their shit together...I can't afford to go. Even if I wanted to. Which I did but I wouldn't have been able to drive.

So hours later...the bite still hurts but it looks the same. I feel like crap. I've got a five year old asleep upstairs who would NOT wake up when I tried to get him to...and I feel sick enough I don't have the energy or the stomach to carry him down two flights of stairs and into the car, etc etc etc.

So anyway, I'm kind of nervous and alone and in pain and feeling like shit and I didn't know if there was anyone out there who's awake who wants to talk or has advise or something. I'll go in tomorrow to an emergency quick care to get it checked out tomorrow if it's not any better. Just kinda feel like everything is surreal and weird at the moment...and gross.

Wow I rambled.

Cliffnotes: Got bitten by a spider. Threw up, feel sick. Bite hurts. No insurance don't want to go to ER for another bill if it's just a harmless spider bite.

Brain, right now, I just can't. Besides the money I have no way to get there and if I walk from one room to the next I feel like I want to fall over or throw up so I can't see driving there.

Most likely I just ended up getting a stomach virus on the same day I got the bite, I'm hoping anyway.

I mean, I have a way to get there...my car, lol. But I feel to sick to try to wake up my son (Who wouldn't wake up last time even though I pulled him out of the bed and stood him up and said "Mommy's sick, we're going to the hospital." ...he just climbed back into bed like he was in a farking trance. I miss those days of sleeping like that.

If I lay down with ice over the bite...it's not too bad. It's when I get up or remove the ice I either feel sick, weak or in pain.

What I'm hoping is....things will stay the way they have been tonight...not get any worse, then I can go to the Dr. tomorrow (one of those emergency quick cares...they treat things like infections, broken bones, etc). By then, my husband will be home.

Iagree Call someone and have them drive you. When you're that sick, you shouldn't take any chances.

Black Widow Spider Bite Symptoms

The black widow spider produces a protein venom that affects the victim's nervous system. This neurotoxic protein is one of the most potent venoms secreted by an animal. Some people are slightly affected by the venom, but others may have a severe response. The first symptom is acute pain at the site of the bite, although there may only be a minimal local reaction. Symptoms usually start within 20 minutes to one hour after the bite.
  • Local pain may be followed by localized or generalized severe muscle cramps, abdominal pain, weakness, and tremor. Large muscle groups (such as shoulder or back) are often affected, resulting in considerable pain. In severe cases, nausea, vomiting, fainting, dizziness, chest pain, and respiratory difficulties may follow.
  • The severity of the reaction depends on the age and physical condition of the person bitten. Children and the elderly are more seriously affected than young adults.

Well, to my knowledge there really are only 2 spiders in North America that are deadly (brown recluse and the black widow). You could have an allergic reaction to the bite though. Maybe take an antihistamine? Dontknow

Brown Recluse Bite Symptoms

Brown recluse spider bites often go unnoticed initially because they are usually painless bites. Occasionally, some minor burning that feels like a bee sting [emedicinehealth.com] is noticed at the time of the bite. Symptoms usually develop two to eight hours after a bite. Keep in mind that most bites cause little tissue destruction.
  • Victims may experience these symptoms:
  • Initially the bite site is mildly red and upon close inspection may reveal fang marks. Most commonly, the bite site will become firm and heal with little scaring over the next few days or weeks. Occasionally, the local reaction will be more severe with erythema [emedicinehealth.com] and blistering, sometimes leading to a blue discoloration, and ultimately leading to a necrotic [emedicinehealth.com] lesion and scaring. Signs may be present include:
    • Blistering (common)
    • Necrosis (death) of skin and subcutaneous fat (less common)
    • Severe destructive necrotic lesions with deep wide borders (rare)
