Is this the breville 870xl, coz I'm planning on buying one?
It sure looks like it to me, but I don't know anything about those machines. I wouldn't know the difference between that and another brand.

Come on SDers. Buying your own ice cream maker allows you to make the ice cream with the ingredients you want in your ice cream. You can make it healthier then the store bought ones or from ice cream shops. It is just like buying a bread maker.

With this, you know what you are using to make your ice cream.

Yep. Look up PreGel gelato recipes from their site. Replace the Base50 with similar recipes online. Way way healthier and you know what goes in. Or, go to gelato University and learn everything you need to know. I went that route.

You won't save much money, if at all, making ice cream. But you get quality close to or better than a gelato shop if you know what you are doing. Or... flavors you can't normally get like "burnt coconut ice cream". But saving money isn't part of it when comparing to store bought. Only savings come when comparing against a real shop.

It's a useless comment that contributes nothing to the discussion while simultaneously looking down on others for their choices and points out something that doesn't need pointing out. The comment's only purpose is to make the poster feel superior. Think the product is useless? Then move on and don't waste others' time or insult their choices.

I hardly ever buy ice cream but my thoughts were that I could make it with less sugar and save money with this machine. You're saying it would predominantly be for making healthier ice cream though and the savings would be minimal?
