I have both stick up ( battery) and hard wired. The battery definitely isn't the best so I recommend getting the solar panel with it. The resolution also isn't as clear as the hardwired and there seems to always be a delay. The stick up ones to me are better than nothing when you can't get hard wire to that area. For example, I have one on my chicken coop and always getting trigged by a skunk or opossum. Lol
