I bought two of these last week. Construction is surprisingly descent. Unfortunately, the cheapest part is probably the most important thing which is the umbrella's cloth material. It seems flimsier then I'd like. I'm dreading the time when a surprise gust of wind comes and these are up.

Assembly of the umbrella was super simple (10-20 minutes). Filling the base with sand is a bitch though. Expect to spend 30 minutes filling up each piece of the base if you pack the sand down with water because you only have about a 3-in hole to fit the sand into the base. There are 4 separate plastic pieces to the base that you have to fill btw so expect to spend 2 hrs filling the base or recruit some helpers. I bought 9x50lb bags of play sand and the two umbrellas took them all. I used water to pack the sand down. Honestly, I could have fit almost another 50 lb bag of sand in the second umbrella's base (the first umbrella took almost 5 bags + some water weight). Moral of the story, buy at least 4x50lb bags of play sand per umbrella and if you really want to weigh it down and spend the extra 30 minutes filling then get a 5th bag. I tried using a funnel to fill them but the sand didn't funnel so well. The sand kept getting clogged in the funnel so I quickly abandoned that idea and just used a scoop I had and scooped the sand directly into the base. If you plan on leaving the base out in the winter then don't use too much water to pack the sand down or it'll freeze and potentially ruin the base. The umbrella is attached to the base by 2 bolts so it's super easy to take apart if you'll be bringing the umbrella in for the winter.

Other then the pain in the ass the base was to fill with sand, I like the fact that the base is in 4 separate interlocking piece. This makes moving the umbrella around much easier. My in-laws have a pair of much more expensive umbrellas where the base is just one piece. Admittedly it looks much better being one piece and is much easier to fill with sand based on how theirs is designed but it's nearly impossible to move because of the weight. With these umbrellas you can easily move the base one piece at a time and then move the umbrella to a different side of the deck/patio if you wanted (it's very useful if you move or want to sell them later on).

The solar panel powered LED lights are very useful as well on my patio which doesn't have much light otherwise. They cast a very respectable amount of light. If you plan on covering these when not in use, which I'd recommend because many reviews complained that the umbrella's color fading from the sun, then just be warned that the solar panel will also get covered and not recharge the battery. This means that if you are going to use the LED lights and you cover the umbrella when not in use then you'll have to remember to take the cover off before hand to allow plenty of time for the battery to recharge in the sun so you can use the LED lights at night. If you forget to uncover the umbrella before hand then there is a power cord that you can plug in so the battery will recharge off your home's electricity. There is also a power switch to turn the lights on and off so they do not have to be on all the time.

The ability to rotate the umbrella 360 degrees is very useful as well. It's so much easier to do then my in-laws more expensive umbrellas. Being able to easily rotate the umbrella is a good feature so you can position the umbrella based on the sun's orientation. Also, when initially opening the umbrella, the 360 rotation of the pole allows you to move the umbrella away from furniture so you won't hit it when opening the umbrella and then you can easily rotate the umbrella back over the furniture once the umbrella is open. Without that feature you would have needed to move the furniture to open the umbrella and then move the furniture back once the umbrella was open which is more effort then it takes to rotate this umbrella.

Overall I'm happy with them but only time will tell how well they'll hold up.

BTW: Box is approx. 8-ft L x 16-in W x 14.5-in H so plan accordingly for pick up.
Buy them off eBay. They are cheap af and guaranteed to work. Don't bother wasting your time with the generators anymore, you'll get a 1:1000 chance* that it'll work.

seems expensive. YOu can get entire gazebos for not much more.
I thought the same thing and purchased a $350 gazebo, anchored it down with the stakes and added weight to the corners. Unfortunately, the following week we had a storm and the thing was destroyed. Winds were only about 30 mph. It would've flown into the neighbors yard if the sandbags weren't holding the legs down. Unless the gazebo is a metal roof or a solid piece design they suck. Those tend to cost upwards of $800-2,000, big difference compared to a 10 min shade for $198.

Ended up convincing the store to return the gazebo as poor quality and bought this umbrella. It keeps shade on my 12x12 patio just fine.

I tried getting a price adjustment last week. I bought the tan umbrellas for $278 - 10% off with a coupon bring them to $250.2 before tax. I picked them up and the next day the price dropped again to $248. I emailed for a price adjustment to honor the new price of $248 minus the 10% off that I originally used and they refused. They didn't even give me it for the $248 without the additional 10% off vs. $250.2 that I paid. I wouldn't have gone through all the trouble for a $2 price adjustment anyway but it wasn't even offered as an option. I explained that I can just return them and rebuy them at the new lower price and apply another 10% off coupon so I don't understand why I can't just get a price adjustment to avoid all that hassle. They responded saying they'd pass my concern along and again offered no price adjustment. From the sound of their response I shouldn't expect anymore follow-up from them either. I'm always very respectful with any CS rep I deal with but Lowe's online CS is never any help to me from all my experiences with them. Maybe I'd have better luck in-store or calling to get the price adjustment?
Went in store today, got a $50 credit. Originally paid $228 after $20 off coupon. Customer service had to get head cashier to input it because I bought online for in store pick up, then a manager override later and $50 back in my account. Total cost $178.

Thanks for the info. I'm waiting for the tan one to drop to $200 and then I'll head to the store to try for a price adjustment + 10% off

I had 2 best choice before (SD ebay deal) and as you can see from the pic, the crank handle is chrome plated plastic. It was full of rust spots in a few months. It also felt like it'd break every time I cranked it. 1 of the umbrellas already went out of commission due to the string was torn. I haven't picked up this Lowes one yet so I can't comment on its quality but I won't recommend the best choice.

Holy Moly!!! Our comments about the Lowe's Military Discount got me curious and I went to the details of the program and it now says eligible on In Store Purchases, not eligible for online purchases - that is a change!!!!
I was told they changed it because too many veterans were abusing the discount by allowing family/friends to use their MyLowes rewards. Now the veteran has to go into the store to get the discount. You need to show proof your a veteran each time you go in even though it is attached to your MyLowes number. Fortunately my drivers license shows my status. More of a pain but we are the ones that screwed it up. BTW, the military discount does work on this umbrella as well as the $22 umbrellas.

You can call to see if they can take care of you over the phone. If they can't, you can go to the store and they'll help you out.
Just wanted to say thanks, I called the store and they refunded me the price difference.

how to get those $20 off $50 coupon these days?
After Lowes changed their coupon mechanism, you are in for trouble every time you use a generated coupon.
Before, all coupons that follow a "pattern" were considered valid, so a chance that you get somebody's coupon was small.
Now, they only mark as valid the coupons that are sent out, so every time you get "lucky" with a generator or get a coupon off ebay, it is guaranteed you are using someone's coupon. Just a matter of time that you are found.

Lots available in the Columbus, Ohio area - just picked one up (had to break the box down as it was too big, but the individual unboxed pieces should easily fit into any car larger than a small sedan).

How are the sellers on the bay generating the coupons? I take it what they are doing isn't ethical?

Thoughts on this one vs paying more for the Allen + Roth one also on clearance, which has a 5/3 year fabric/frame warranty?

It is crazy fast. It takes me 1 hour to fill sand to the bases. LOL.
