LOL what? Life-saving?? Right... It's a major pain in the ass. How is the thing beeping at 80% more "life saving" than doing so at 20%? If anything it's wasteful. Now I have to change batteries in order to get the a55hole detector to stop beeping when it hits 80%. That's like getting a "Low battery!" warning on your phone when the battery hits 80%. Useless, and annoying. Besides, people who ignore the battery-replacement beep at 20% are still going to ignore it at 80%... I'm glad the thing is working, and I can check it via SmartThings on the phone. But it's annoying and rather wasteful to have the thing start beeping at 80%. Hell, even 25% would be more reasonable. 80% equates to months and months of battery life remaining. Why would I want to replace the batteries?
I just bought 6 of these on Amazon last month and had to return them.
They say interconnected in the description (at least on Amazon) but they are NOT interconnectable so that they all alarm at once.
You'd have to rely on your hub to connect them, if you even can command them to alarm from a hub. So if your power is out or internet is down or whatever, they aren't interconnected.

I wouldn't care otherwise, but I did a remodel and had to bring the smoke detectors up to current code to pass inspection, which meant interconnected models. So if you're needing to update to the latest fire code, these don't cut it.
They don't stop working at 80%. The 80% in Smartthings is percent of voltage. 80% of voltage is dead. Mine lasted 2 years on sams club batteries before they started beeping.

Of course they always start beeping at 3 am. But that is another issue.

Anyone tried these? I have the older model without carbon monoxide, but it's really annoying that starts beeping with battery levels fall below 80%

Does Costco price match a previous order?

It looks like first alert doesn't make a hard wired version. Am I correct?

I'd think having them hardwired would be preferable, especially since has the zwave radio to power.

Not annoying - its life saving - be very glad the thing is working.

Dont use alkaline or rechargeable batteries, go with Energizer ultimate lithium

I have a special section on my batteries box for batteries with 80% or less charge to use in other devices.

Why not use lithiums? They will indicate a fuller charge longer and then drop past "80%" when they are no longer worth using.

I don't think the battery indicator in firmware calibration was done correctly. On both hubitat and smartthings these beep at around 77%, but it's fine for me, as that's around 12 months post install, and batteries get changed yearly with the clocks, so zero issues. The inaccurate reading sucks, but not a reason to pass on these, I didn't.

Guys, it's freaking Costco. I returned a farking burnt out lightbulb 2 years later because the box said 20 year life. I'm certain they would credit you. I just did the same thing with 800 security cameras and got 100 back
