Not a great deal considering its only a y series processor. The new pro with quad core U is much better. For brosewing and word processing $980 is too much.

My God that's ludicrous. I don't know how they can sleep at night charging that. Pure greed. SSDs are so cheap now, 256gb should be standard in F'ing 2019. Apple should be embarrassed shoveling 128gb laptops at this point.

These are great portable machines. Super light weight, awesome battery life, very powerful. A faster processor (if you needed/wanted it) not only costs more money but has shorter run time on battery, so pick your evil. What is most remarkable about these products, and why you can not really compare them head to head with PCs is the operating system that get updated for nearly a decade and is so well done that they last and last for years. A mid 2011 MacBook Air I was asked to fix for a friends son had a market value of $500. He was going to buy a used one and that was the best price around... not worth it in my opinion vs new but if all you have is $500 what can you do. But I was able to repair the machine that suffered from liquid damage just by removing the boards and cleaning them. High quality has its benefits.

Unfortunately you're still slightly better off going with the Apple Beats deal and selling the Beats to recoup $100(after fees). If you plan on buying Apple Care, getting BBY to pm the price from $249 to Apple's $199 would even things out a bit.
