Oh gosh why do you continue writing your username after your post 😱
Plus taxes and fees. If you live in IL like I do, taxes will be like $8 extra per month. There is always a $5 e911 fee plus other bogus fees.

I went from Cricket to Ting to At&t Prepaid in about 8 minutes. Ting sim kit is $4.99 at Bestbuy. Even though the Ting sim comes with $30.00 worth of service, make sure ya don't use any.
What did you do with the 30$ from ting then? Did you just return it?

It's just service credit that comes with the $4.99 sim kit. I called them and they said something about applying $15.00 at the end of the first two billing cycles. Didn't matter to me cuz I was only with them for about 4 minutes. Friend of mine doing this same deal stayed on Ting for a few weeks and got stuck paying $34.00. For some reason she didn't get the $30.00 service credit.

This is super helpful, thanks. So pick up a Ting sim kit, and it will allow me to Port in, without finding the account with any money?

I'm curious to know where you ran into trouble porting from Cricket to AT&T Wireless? When I go through the signup process, it is telling me I can port from my Cricket number to AT&T.

Did you run into trouble later when you actually did the port?

I know in the past, you couldn't Port the mvno of a carrier into that carrier.

A few years ago I wanted to switch from straight talk to att prepaid. Couldn't do it bc I was on the registers in the att version Sim card.
Had to Port to T-Mobile and then to att prepaid.

Keep us posted if you went directly from cricket to att without any problems.

My experience was a bit rough - like that experienced by others. But knowing what to anticipate helped!

- Ordered SIM/$300 plan with CC on Monday 9/9
- Received SIM on Wed 9/11 - decided to wait to activate
- Started at 12:30 on Thurs 9/12 and completed around 2pm - with constant effort
  • Had checked that my port from Republic Wireless was 'confirmed' (on Republic's end all was entirely smooth)
  • Inserted new sim in powered off phone and powered up - recognized att network - but nothing active
  • Went to online link as suggested above - entered all my input and was told great activated go to manage account link
  • As others have experienced - it did not recognize my phone number or pin or 'forgot' password
  • As suggested above finally got to 'chat' and requested to be connected with Port via chat. They said only by could be reached by call but that they'd have porting dept call me at my home number (landline) - a tech called promptly, asked what I wanted and then transferred me to Porting dept. The problem though, was while I could hear them, they couldn't hear me and they hung up. And trying to call the porting number back at 888-898-7685 or calling 877-426-0525 never got me to a live person. All responses resulted in invalid number/account/ and endless loop or referring me to go to an AT&T store.
  • I got to chat a second time - with exactly the same result - porting person could NOT hear me.
  • I got to chat a 3rd time and asked that they keep the chat open; when the tech person came on the line I asked that they also remain on the line until I confirmed that the porting person could hear me or have him act as an intermediary. The porting person could hear me while the tech person remained on the line and he put himself on mute while I completed the port via the porting person.
  • After she told me I was good to go - I kept her on the line while I went to paygonline.com to create the account giving me number as account, and last 4 digits as pw and did receive a text with temporary password and was able to create the account and pay via credit card. I did not go the prepaid card route.
I am glad that I won't have to interact with AT&T prepaid for 300 days....Porting from Cricket to Republic was flawless. Porting from Republic (despite horror stories in the past since number can be perceived as landline) was flawless. But the AT&T side of things was less than stellar.

But the feedback from others on this board gave me a good idea what to expect - and I allowed enough time and had all the info necessary to get it done. Thanks!

Update 9/13 - to add insult to injury - at 4am today received a 2nd charge to credit card for same amount. Both pending - I added a dispute note to today's charge.

Update 9/16 - The second charge remained in pending over the weekend. I called 611 from my phone and they confirmed that it was a real, duplicate charge and I had to hold until they connected me with the payment office to issue a refund for the 2nd charge which will post in 1-3 days.

There's no Best Buy within an hours drive for me, so I did a port to Speedtalk (kit available at Amazon for $9.95). Went through effortlessly, only CSR I actually had to talk to was at AT&T. This was for the other plan (25GB from Walmart monthly prepaid).

I never tried to port from Cricket directly to At&t Prepaid but I'm sure it would work just fine if ya didn't want this annual 360 deal.

it was dead easy for me...

1. placed the order with my cc for sim by porting in the number
2. received the sim and inserted into the ph and then activated the sim online
3. nothing worked. temp password retrieval was also not worked
4. called att prepaid(number was given by someone here. and she completed the port in and recevied text.and said fine to activate with prepaid cards
5. then I went online by creating the account and loaded my $10 cards online...
6. everything started working.

only thing was I had to call to complete the port in by the rep.

whats the number you called.
having same issue and called (800) 901-9878 mentioned in the wiki but cant progress without a phone number.

The Deal is not $300! I work for AT&T and can tell you the deal is not what it appears after you read the fine print. It's a bit misleading to claim the price is only $25 a month! The real price is closer to $33 a month after taxes so it comes out to $401 a year! What is NOT stated in the details is the FACT that AT&T will credit your account with $300 dollars towards the plan and then deduct $25 dollars every month (plus any overages, like international long distance, if any) from the temporary holding account at AT&T but they will charge the additional $5-$10 in taxes from your credit card directly or if you don't setup CC autopay they will deduct the monthly taxes and overages every month from your AT&T holding account. No matter how you slice the deal, you will deplete your $300 balance by month 9 which will force you to top off starting at month 9 of your service or your service will cease to operate from month 9 through month 12!
Has anybody been seeing any of these monthly deductions from their credit card or this special holding account that this At&t employee was talking about????

Read the thread man...it was explained many times...
There are 50 pages of posts... I read most of them and still don't have a clear picture.

Since it was explained many times, it is probably a frequently asked question. It would be helpful if someone could add the process to the wiki.

Has anyone done this with a 2nd phone? I've been on this plan for 1 month with no issues. Now I'd like to move my wife over since we just used the rest of our cricket gift card balance. I'm assuming that it's possible but we will have 2 different accounts.

It has been over a month since this deal was first posted. People that signed up with a credit card, no gift cards, should have received a monthly bill by now if there is going to be a monthly bill.
Were there any additional taxes or other charges?
If you did not receive a bill, was your prepaid balance deducted for additional charges not accounted for in the amount stated during initial checkout?
