Oh gosh why do you continue writing your username after your post 😱
Plus taxes and fees. If you live in IL like I do, taxes will be like $8 extra per month. There is always a $5 e911 fee plus other bogus fees.

It has been over a month since this deal was first posted. People that signed up with a credit card, no gift cards, should have received a monthly bill by now if there is going to be a monthly bill.
Were there any additional taxes or other charges?
If you did not receive a bill, was your prepaid balance deducted for additional charges not accounted for in the amount stated during initial checkout?

While I'm still working to see if duplicate charge is cleared, I was charged $321 - $300 plus local taxes - and statement for Oct says $0 due.

users are not getting charged taxes if using GC/refills..thats why most go that path with freezing CC etc

Well my question is more about "do I need to bother with the GC and CC freeze hassle"? Can I just pay the $300 with CC (yes, forgoing possibly discounts on GCs), and still not worry about paying additional month to month.

Seems like the guy who was saying ATT will continually charge your account was full of it. Not sure why he kept up his story. It hasn't happened. So you'll do a one time payment of $300 plus your taxes if you don't use gift cards. Nothing else for the rest of the year.

Did you go thru the route that most ppl did? Port number over, load the account with refill card, freeze cc before it activated?

Update 9/16 - The second charge remained in pending over the weekend. I called 611 from my phone and they confirmed that it was a real, duplicate charge and I had to hold until they connected me with the payment office to issue a refund for the 2nd charge which will post in 1-3 days.
I am exactly at same situation so frustrating. Will never ever give att a chance

I came from a&t postpaid. I was able to keep my existing number and use the same sim (didn't have to order another SIM). The rep in loyalty department converted my postpaid account to prepaid.

I then called the prepaid department to get this plan added to my prepaid account. The rep did just that and told me I could make a total payment of $300 (credit card or prepaid card) with her or go online to do it myself. I chose to pay with prepaid cards (since I could get them for less than the actual value) which I didn't have yet, she said all the information needed to submit payment is on the prepaid card.

After getting the cards at target, i followed the instructions (on the cards) to make my payment. Once $300 was submitted, I received a text from AT&T confirming plan charge was successful.

I was lucky to encounter reps who knew what were doing & helped me without any issues.

exactly the same for me as well. I disputed the 2nd real charge on my credit card. Got the response of refund (with a confirmation #) withing the same timeframe. The cc also said that a credit for the amount of the disputed charge would appear in pending. Neither has happened yet - but it's been less than 24 hours. This is definitely a billing bug on ATTs part. if so many folks who are not going the prepaid/discount card route are having issues with a straight credit card transaction.

This has been a huge hassle but I finally got two sims while porting numbers from t-mobile setup. It was an awful process! I've been with Verizon forever. Still had that old unlimited plan but it got to be stupid expensive. My wife and I ported to Mint Mobile but discovered coverage i in our area sucks. Porting to Mint was super easy and I really liked the account management. However, the service coverage map is very inaccurate. Porting out of Mint wasn't easy because they make you call for the account number. I had a hell of a time getting my wife's account number. First two times no trouble but I failed to write it down. I entered it into the at&t form when ordering but it didn't do anything. First order didn't go through, 2nd order did, but they requested the t-mobile account number again on the phone. Had to call Mint again and at&t reps had a hell of a time porting it.

I spent an easy 5 hours on the phone over the last two days with at&t. They lied to me countless times. Said I was getting the supervisor when they transfered me to post pay department. Another lady told me to talk to her, manager and I got transferred to business accounts. Finally found a helpful lady after explaining it to cs a half dozen times.

You know what, I don't even have time to explain all the hoops I had to jump through. Never mind with my at&t runaround story. I would not do this again!

Curious, what is the big deal since it will no doubt be credited back and was a mistake?

So I have read almost all stories here. I have not done it yet but it sounds to me that in order to port the number I have to do it online and give them the CC...or they have to buy the sim online with a CC? I haven't heard anyone saying that the bought the sim in store with cash or cc (the difference is they don't have your CC in their system), then call them to have them port the number and, ask them for temp password, log in, use refill card bough ahead, load the card and good to go...no worries about freezing the CC...It seems like you have to use the Cc at some point in the process and then because you load the account with the refill you have to freeze the cc to stop them from charging again...it appears that some got into this situation..

The CC refund came through today - so I expect no issues for the next 12 months and since I removed any credit card from 'on file' in my profile - no way to charge me 'inadvertently'.
